Saviem's fan club (Part 1)

Been pretty busy this week, …Thanks to Buzzer for saving the page….

Apart from felling another 5 sodden great firs, de-branching, and cutting the suckers up, I’ve also dug the Fergie out of hibernation, started her up, and hopefully tomorrow if the weather holds, it’ll be the paddock getting a hair cut…

So, to State business.
As M.O.B I’ve been rushing around purchasing old French coaches for the ladies to use, this in an effort to boost M.Saviems chances of winning the election from M.Hollande by giving out heavily discounted shags to prospective voters …there are no incentives in the UK to vote, so no reason why this ploy shouldn’t work here then… :unamused:

Had a few problems with the staff to-date, Fifi has been working her ■■■■ off/heart out, as usual, but, I’m afraid that both Mimi and Foofoo have let the side down badly. They’ve not been turning up for work, apparently now he/she has been promoted to Minister of legal affairs, Richard/Mimi has got a bit above his/her station, and recons he/she can make more money embezzling/helping people that need a QC more that doing the business…poor show I feel… Foofoo’s excuse is that all his/ her dresses have shrunk in the wash, he/she’s got nothing to wear and his/her hair is always a mess…poor
Mappo/Foofoo, anyone got a size XXXXXXXXXL to lend him/her…the fat Git .
Good news, both sheep are doing fine…

So, Pics of some of the coaches I’ve managed to buy, out of my department budget I hasten to add. Just need spraying Pink….
Need a few more volunteer drivers, Charlie will be off for a few weeks with his replacement hip bedding in, and R.O.F is, well, to be honest, completely mad.
Anyone wishing to take on the roll, contact Ministry of Transport.

This weeks French truck of the week is…isn’t, but it has a French connection I think !!.. … :-

Well Saviem, Iv’e been and done it now I think I have found a Saviem tractor or at least it is powered by Saviem, it has a cab so you wont get wet and it’s four wheel drive so less chance of getting stuck in your clay. Have alook on youtube cheers Buzzer.

Whooooooops…

Engine change on the side of the road, took 12 hrs…

Come on Guys, can’t keep this going all on me own, need some help here…

This company is still going, just down the road from us in Concarneau

This F88 is still earning a living, and proves you don’t need 500hp to do the job, also proves if you do have 500hp you still get held up… :unamused:

Common sight in the late '60’s - '70’s …Bûssing, some sleeper on it too

And a nice old Fiat earning a hard living…

Saviem’s own motor these days.
Cheers Dave.

Hi Fergie47,
Thanks to Traveller Dave (I wrote to him a while back) here’s a few suggestions surely the most apt pleasure wagon would be a Unic and of course manned (almost  ) by a ■■■■■■, who among your volunteers has the balls  for that .
More plush joy machines would be the Saviems.
Oily

One to gladden the heart of Monsieur Saviem himself. Note the fuel tank arrangement.
Oily

Need a few more volunteer drivers, Charlie will be off for a few weeks with his replacement hip bedding in, and R.O.F is, well, to be honest, completely mad.

Now, Fergie, I must take issue with you-
Since when has madness been any bar to a career in either politics or driving?
As to “honesty”, that really is a cheval of un different coleur, n’est ce pas? :unamused:

Morning all, Fergie, Oilly, Buzzer, ROF, Dave R, and everyone else, thank you for your input in my absence. Im afraid that circumstances are not easy at the moment. We have got Grannie back to our place, and into a little “facility”, (apartment type), that we have just completed. But those of you who have experience of close ones who have suffered Strokes, well you know the “challenges”…great fun!

Fergies picture of the roadside engine change remind me of one I witnessed in Marseilles around 68, with a Berliet, totally in bits , and spread out along a tree lined avenue…was like that for a week , then just drove away, leaving only the oil stains behind! Bet that would not happen today!

Sharp frost this morning, and we are getting on with cultivation, amazing how the clay firms up so quickly, but ROF I have been really disappointed with how poor our Deere on tracks performed on the mud. I would have expected better with all that track area…Im ever the optimist.

Those converted Saviem coaches from Oily, really look the part. The “ride” should suit Charlie, and ROF. And they were delightfully quiet and smooth to drive!

Which is more than can be said for my little Scammel Scarab, but on a cold morning like this one having the radiator in the cab is very welcome…but in the summer it is a different story! Hardest artic I have ever reversed, you really have to concentrate for she turns as quick as a Terrier after a rat! And the steering is really “Armstrong”.

Yet the French version by FAR, in its last form had a tilting Saviem cab, and power steering, …and front wheel was braked!!

I shall away to my work, and dream of acquiring a FAR…or perhaps not!

Cheerio for now.

The Sceta company was a big Customer of F.A.R to deliver goods in Paris last century. It was a branch of the French railway .

Anymore details and pic’s Michel…engine size, hp…etc… :sunglasses:

Dave…Saviems Scammell, it’s not Pink, can you get it resprayed ? send the bill to Ministry of Finance. It will be used to carry him around on his electioneering campaign. He’ll need it quick, Mdm Le Penn is getting a lot of votes, hope the Min of Immigration is watching, and making notes…

Oily…Smashing coaches…all French as requested by the boss…BUT, you haven’t been paying attention have you. The coaches are being driven by old, and in some cases, senile retired UK drivers, many of which will be on crutches, walking sticks, in wheel or bath chairs, and in one case, a straight jacket. Those coaches are far too modern, they would take half a day trying to get in those automatic doors for a start, it would confuse them, and wouldn’t have a clue how to drive them with all the modern gizmo’s, gauges and just 2 pedals… They also need something with a loooooooong bonnet, preferably with a pair of sticks poking out the front wings with flags on…as the majority will be wearing dark glasses and be accompanied by a guide dog, and a bonnet will give them more notice as they tend to drive by touch, forget gauges, speedo etc, they either can’t read or can’t see, so not required.
If you could search for something more suited to the old retards I’d be grateful…and in pink…ta
PS…Don’t send too many pic’s of JM240’s, especially ones with 2 fuel tanks, SAVIEM will be ploughing all wiggly day dreaming of those motors…

SAVIEM…you missed Truck of the week…go back and then report…

R.O.F… what can I say ROF, that hasn’t already been said about you …best leave now to get over here by the end of the month, those old bath chairs are a bit slow on the hills I hear, told you not to fit a Gardner in it…

Buzzer…Stop winding Saviem up, he knows he’s in trouble with that old Yankee tractor…be nice…

And for all the oldies…another shot of France that we’ve all seen a lot of times, typical old Route National…

Fergie I have trawled through some old adverts ( internet ) and I came up with a selection which I hope comes up to the expectations of the Minister

I hope these are from the correct era :unamused:

cheers Johnnie

This one is more modern and it is a Saviem school bus

and this is an old British one if you require a right hand drive

and something to clean up after the untidy old buggers

cheers Johnnie

i rather fancy the second photo as the bus of choice , upstairs apartment for privacy , although on or two of the " ladies " might need help getting up there and they might have to shovel the pigeon crap out from time to time . no windscreen to hinder their view , maybe buzzer can come up with some nice second hand waterproofs and sou’westers . i like the inside salon where the customers can sit to wait their turn with an overpriced glass or two of wine .all in all it would seem to be the ideal vehicle for the job in hand .

Dave I have just noticed that looks like "Charlie one " complete with stick after his hip op stood on sentry duty as well  ( sorry Charlie hope you are recovering O K )

cheers Johnnie :unamused:

Far too luxurious for us Brits- two headlights AND two wipers! :unamused:

Afternoon all, now on matters “Autobus”, perhaps I may suggest a fleet of, (pink), Saviem 220s…the 70s articulated bendy ones…really MANs but we put Saviem badges on them! Go like s… off a shovel, with a Voith autobox, outdrag any 2CV from the lights…and they have four entrances…we could offer four different classes…dependant on participants financial circumstance!

Or for the "high flyers, how about some Berliet PCMRE 1968 Paris( RAPT), only problem, as the RAPT found out…they were 4.3 metres high!!

Fergie, those delightful little FARs had 4 cylinder Perkins power, under that Pelpel produced tipping cab. If you were brave they could attain 70kph, at 13 tonnes gtw. The later Saviem SG2 tipping cab versions had Alfa Romeo/Ricardo 85 hp 4 cylinder engines, (Alfa Romeo produced Saviem SG range for Italy). With an option of 4 cyl Perkins, (with a 6 cylinder option for 16 tonnes gtw), and Vacumn Hydraulic brakes. The last FAR three wheeler was shown at the 1971 Paris Salon, having an OM cab, and 6 cylinder 110 hp engine, full three wheel air brakes, and a 16tonne gtw.

Via Truck Rental had a large fleet of the Saviem cab version, as did the SNCF, Calberson, (SNCF owned), and the Regie Renault, where they worked alongside their similarly Scammell coupled SMD 8 tonners. The FARs having the 75hp Alfa Romeo engine.

The early 60s version shown on michels image, with the Pelpel tilt cab was in my opinion the best looker, nice balance

Sorry boss, gonna have to argue the point here, 1970’s is far to young a coach for the degenerates that will be driving them. As stated before, must have a long bonnet, to protect the merchandise…and the innocent….so prior to 1930 is good… but no later that 1950…
Here is an example of one of the drivers, His name is Charles, and he’s recuperating from a hip op, now I ask you, would you trust him to drive a coach.? I didn’t think so…hence the long bonnet……

Thanks for the info…You’d want some bottle to drive one of them John I recon…110 hp on three wheels…phew… :unamused:

Perfect Johnnie…just what we need, perhaps you’d like to be
Min of Purchase and Supply… I particularly like this one…could be our command vehicle and a rest up wagon for the old crones driving the coaches…

Wrong there mate, far to neat and tidy for Charlie, no guide dog or dark glasses either !!

And finally for to-day…I’ve had problems recruiting drivers, we’re gonna need more, I know the wages aren’t brilliant, but the hours are reasonable and the perks might be worth considering. Appreciate that Mimi, Foofoo and the 2 sheep might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are freebee’s
However, having advertised in the local rag, I’ve had some replies, and this lot turned up this afternoon for “testing”….I’m gonna need some help…
Now, they do look more interesting and a better class of lady…compaired to the last lot anyway… so, any more volunteer drivers ■■
