None of the tyre fitters I ever knew looked like this…
Unusual, but it’d work…

Have you any more pictures like that Fergie? There …err for my mate!!

Somua JL19T near a Saviem JM 240T in preservation not far from Vichy.
We probably met on that day, Michel, but you were patient enough to wait until the sun was in the right place to take your picture! Unlike me.

Old French road scenes
Rural French towns and villages rarely change, you could see a photo taken 50 or 60 years ago, visit the place today, and you wouldn’t see much difference.
Most pic’s should have a lorry in there some where…
Thanks, Fergie, for all those very “tasty” old pics! The kind of stuff I love. Unfortunately, rural villages in my area (Central France) look like anything but what they were in the 50s and 60s. Useless roundabouts, ramps, concrete or resin paving and flower pots; in fact, they now look all the same.
Here’s another picture I took at the Lapalisse show in October 2014. Rare (in France) MAN 10.212, and probably Henschel HS 19 T.

Disappointed Pierre, here’s me thinking you were interested in the technical specifications of the pic’s I post up, ?..
Still, if your “mate” is interested, I think it’s a 1994, 36.24.36, and no, I don’t have anymore pic’s like that…

Only very recently have a few of the towns started to do “improvements” (read ■■■■ up) …there’s not the money here… the villages and hamlets still remain pretty much the same though.
Doubtless it will all change in the not too distant future, villages will end up like the lorries, which were once all indervidual and with character, now they’re just Euro boxes…all rather sad really…

Hi Pete
Hope you are well, don’t be fooled by this picture, it looks like Fergie’s old friend Yvette from the Creperie that he took me to last time I was there, and she doesn’t have a spare tyre but puts Fergie’s pressure up
Regards
Richard

Nice one mate, glad your haven’t forgotten the French delights… Bet you miss it …?
Thanks again for all these French Classics, Fergie!
Picture n°3, with the Bernard laying on its side, is a shot from the serial “la Route”.

I had never seen that very specially cabbed Saviem “Concarneau”; I’m just wondering if it’s a Pelpel cab, and will try to sort it out.

Froggy…thought I was the only one that enjoyed the real oldies in b&w…
French friend sent me another disc full of photos, sadly there is no descriptions with the pics, I have to rely on the " professors" to give the details, and, seeing as you’re clued up on the old’un’s, you should sign up as “Prof Frog” ! along side the likes of Prof’s Saviem, Michel, Robert, etc …
Concarneau is about 20 minutes from us ( fishing port and tourist hot spot) it would be interesting if that cab takes its name from, or had anything to do with the town… I’ll be intrigued as to what you manage to dig up…bon chance…
Right, having just actually woken up and read your post property, I now understand the Concarneau connection…it’s where it’s from…deeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrr…not who extended the cab…
That’s why I only post pictures… I’ll get me coat…
Don’t get your coat yet… I love all these photo’s they remind me of my first trips to France and Italy in a Thames Trader when I was 15 travelling with my pal Don. Great memories, good drivers, and beautiful countryside…
Regards
Me

Thanks for the compliment but, compared to guys like Michel who spent his life as a manager in truck selling, I’m just a little “amateur” who tries his best to get the information where it is.Well, the enquiry went very fast concerning the “Concarneau” Saviem, thanks to the usual team of spécialists on my favourite French Forum:
photosdecamions.com/t29300p250-saviem
The bodywork is signed Tual et Gourmelen, a Breton bodywork specialist, and here are two more Saviems upgraded by their services. As you said recently, sadly all these beautiful cabs have gone out of fashion, and trucks look so much all like each other. The reason is probably also that, in the 60s, standard cabs weren’t comfortable enough for long journeys, and such improvements were welcome for transporters who could afford the expense.
@ Professors Frog & Fergie et al: the flow of amazing pictures has continued unabated in recent weeks. It’s all very enjoyable. Cheers, Robert
