Couldn’t get a really decent shot, as its surrounded by cars…
AND, fellow Saviem fans… don’t bother thanking me, having to go out in the pi**ing rain, on a freezing cold Sunday afternoon just to photograph it, to satisfy your ■■■■ for all things French…
It’s a bl**ding pleasure…

But I was recently in a town called Dobrovice, that’s situated not too far from Prague, and sat down in the local pub, where these pics were hanging on the wall,
the “local” folks couldnt’ tell me however what the marque of the lorries were, but my best bet is, it’s probably or Tatra or Skoda…?

He specialises in DS and 2CV’s…but repairs anything Citroen, he owns some beautiful DS’s one a Maserati, a few 2CV’s, one a convertible… The place is huge, and is crammed with Citroens for repair and breaking for spares…unfortunate, I’ve got a Peugeot …

Its 14 years old , with 216000 kms, does 50 mpg, never let me down, one cambelt and service parts only, hasn’t failed an M.O.T. or had any advisories, so, you can call It want you want. .
I call it cheap motoring…

There certainly was a time when French cars were desirable, let’s not forget the 305, 605 and the 309 especially the GTI version, and the most stunning looking of the lot, the 504 coupe… And that’s just Peugeot to start with…

If it does 50mpg… you’re not driving it then I reckon
But I must admit, that’s not bad at all, so far I’ve owned two Citroen’s, a BX GTI and a ZX break and a Renault Clio, weren’t bad cars, only the BX had a mind of his own…

Morning all,
Fergie, we all owe you a massive vote of thanks, these pictures are really great. For many of us its the memories they bring back, for others its a window on another world, sadly now gone with the European “superstate”…what happened to the individual?
For me you could just load that Tissier with the grey BX next to it, plus a, (any one will do), 2 CV…and I would be away home…but I bet your friend knows to the last cent just what they are worth! But those 4 door conversions were the more common of the 3, and 4 axle versions…pity about those little mirrors though! By gum, I d like to own that…wonder what excuse for acquisition I could use…
Personally, I liked the BXs, bought quite a few off, (I think), Platts at Stoke on Trent, put all my salesmen in them , never had a complaint, and they were great on fuel. Wished I had kept one, (probably the estate), lovely ride. But French cars and vans in general were great long distance vehicles. I had a Renault 4 when I was first in France, quite a comedown from the Corsair 2000E that I had at Hartshornes…but on distance work it was more comfortable, and really great fun to drive.
Ended up with a 1600cc Renault 20, but again great , if a little sluggish, to drive, not as comfortable as the Citroen ID 19, but then when I had my first Renault 16, I simply could not believe how it was so comfortable, and it could devour the Kilometres easily…and those seats!..But of course it was designed by Phillipe Charbonneaux of the Television cab!
Happy memories, Thank you all…pv I reckon that those brewery lorries are Skoda`s.
