i have no recent experience of Samworths. but I used to do a bit for them a couple of years ago with PL Workforce agency from Portbury (until they finished). I also went for an interview for a full time job with them, but they only had vacancies for nights at the time, which was not for me. They were a decent firm to work for through the agency, their kit is up together and I never had any problems with their management. The only downside I could see was that you would be doing the same run every day with no variety. I did that on High Street Transport, trunking from Clevedon to Tamworth 5 days a week and got to know every bump in the road.
Good crowd to get in with mate money ok and good benefits,i been trying to get in at Callington depot for three years but its dead mans shoes!
Dont know if Bristol as bad as Callington but i went for an interview for a shunting job xmas before last and im still waiting for them to let me know that i didnt get the job!!!I had to get home mid week for a 10pm interview with three days notice and then they didnt even have the courtesy to let me know that i didnt get it.Found out from one of the drivers that an agency guy got it and was always going too.Least i got a night home mid week out of it eh?lol
Somebody else asked the same question last year. Don`t know if it had a management change but a few years ago in the canteen a driver moved the clock on the wall and behind it was a microphone so the management could listen to all conversations and what drivers were saying about the firm.
This story was told in a national truck magazine.
