but when your on a job where u can buy diesel for next to nothing the more diesel u can carry the better

Easterstar said harry is a bigot cos he blames the stinking scum from eastern europe for buggering up the transport industry. If he had seen what these total tossers have done to europe in the last ten years he would know why we have such a hatred of them. Was a time when east european guys were ok, older drivers, properly trained, would make use of what they had and if you had problems would try to help you. Now the dirty ■■■■■ trample you to get on train , ■■■■ where they like , do so much dammage its not real, I could go on but Im bored with it now.Truth is these parisites have ■■■■■■ the european haulage. meanwhile back to the subject, loved my trailer box when in italy and greece.

chazzer:
A lot of drivers who ran outside of local europe eg Benelux, France and Germany had trailer boxes usually one long box divided into two compartments, one for equipment and spares and the other for the outside kitchen. Many companies and owner drivers running to the M/E in the 70’s/80’s would have an ‘‘Aksaray’’ bespoke box fitted, so called because it was made by a small trailer repair firm in the town of Aksaray in the middle of Turkey where you could stop on the way down, tell them what you wanted and have it fitted on the way back with compartments for your cooker, tinned food etc but trailer manufacturers in the uk who built them to M/E spec would also fit them if required. Another option in the 70’s was the M/E spec cab offered by Volvo and Daf in the F89 and 2800 trucks which had a raised bunk with a sink and water tank underneath with a swivel passenger seat and a gas cooker with a feed from an outside gas bottle, can’t quite remember the exact layout but I think it included a fridge. If I remember right the Daf had a pump and shower hose which could fit on the side of the cab, I’m sure someone will remember if this is correct.

Volvo also offerd the F10/12 with a kitchen pack

yeh got to agree with you there mate it covers all eventualities- you’re always fully self sufficient. >> i lost count of the number of times i kept losing ‘my’ tilt when on european work back in the day-christ you dont realise how much (tools gear and kitchen stuff) you’ve put in those trailer sideboxes until you have to transfer across to another one!! chrs d
