Cheers Stravaiger!

Oddly enough I’ve got a couple of photos of G132 that I took myself 3 or 4 years ago.

Does anyone have pictures of any of the the newish Midnight blue / black Anderson R series? Or know why they’re that colour?

Ryan

Anderson bought Mullan of Musselburgh who were blue, also Tommy MacMillan who were midnight blue

I,ve been retired for 9 years. Reading this thread has brought me on all nostalgic. I,ve got no pics of Anderson,s waggons, but I have got great memories of some of the Drivers. The only ones I can still remember are, Sailor, (Tommy Sneddon),
The Wee Man, Barney, Red Rooster, ( those were their CB handles),the rest have slipped somewhere in me mental filing cabinet. They were all great lads. Always good for the crack. Always ready to help out ,if you needed it. Excellent company in the boozer, when parked up.Top men, just like their Team.Happy Days!!. ps. Best Wishes to all for 2009.

stravaiger,
I am afraid that I am struggling with these computer thingies just the same as my Beta Max video  but can you tell me why over the last couple of day’s a little box has appeared on the top of my screen ( next to the TruckNet U.K. Driver box ) which says " TinyPic-Free Image Hosting ?
I am sure that it was not there a couple of days ago.

.

Thats O.K. Jim, it’s gone now.

.

Unfortunately my Anderson pics were from before I moved into the digital age Stravaiger…

However here’s a couple of others taken at the Ayrshire Road run this year instead…

Sam Anderson of Newhouse in the late 50’s & early 60’s ran a fleet of Mk3 AEC 8 wheelers on steel out of Coatbridge including a night trunk to Birmingham, the 8 wheeler then used to be legal at 24t gross with a payload of 16t but Sam must of read this wrong because his loads used to start at around 24t not only that but they were probably the fastest fleet on the road as these AEC’s usually had the 11.3 as against the more usual 9.6 engine on top of that he had aquired a Hungarian pump man, during the 1956 uprising, who was mustard and he made those wagons fly. One night on the A74 we were overtaken by one of Sams 8 wheelers which appeared to have a load of sheeted steel on the deck, perched on top of this there was another 8 wheeler plus he was towing on a bar what appeared to be a steel loaded 8 wheeler with another on top of the steel and he overtook us as though we were standing still. I have read on the Smith of Maddison thread the proud boast that no one came past them unless it was another Smiths, well I remember Smiths of Maddison and i can tell you they and anybody else did’nt stand a chance when Sammy’s lit the wick.

Tony.
