Another product from Sisu, a hydraulic motor. Brochure from 1981

/Stellan

that product was from eary 70 ,s and used in artillery and other solutions like in the first axle in drawbars for timber, and isn,t it quite like man hydrodrive and volvo,s new hydraulic frontwheeldrive,or what stellan, cheers benkku

It´s most likely so, a much simpler and easier way to get all wheel drive

/Stellan

Anyone know anything about these?

Obviously Spanish, but other than the details on the covers, eg Perkins Engines, information is sparse.

Nice one here from SCAMMELL TRAILERS.

Nice one here from SCAMMELL TRAILERS.

Is it a coincident that France used the same construction at that time, or could it be some kind of cooperation? It would be fun to know who “invented” it…
I know that I have some more about this trailer system, and as soon I find it I will post it here

Pardon my French :grimacing:

Evening all, this thread does stimulate an old mans grey cells, but firstly, this luddite finds that he cannot log in at all on his own computer! when I attempt shows, incorrect password, then captcha, recurring, this comes up endlessly, and I cannot stop it!! Have now all but given up, yet can occasionally log on with my daughters lap top, (as now), any ideas or help gratefully received, as I do enjoy the enormous knowledge that all you contributors possess! But if I cannot resolve this, well I am gone forever!!
gb1, you really have a great collection of material! That 1974 range poster was also produced (in millions), as a paper tablecloth, in conjunction with our prefered oil supplier Elf, and distributed FOC to Routiers in La Belle France, and Belgium. Very popular, and like the 1960s Unic edition, very prized.
Unic Auvergne, 35tonne gtw, at 150hp, with the Saurer injection system, (Saviem and Berliet, both utilising the" M" (in Berliets case described as “magic”), MAN injection system. For a time in the 60s, Unic marketed in France the Unic/Saurer range, developed close ties with Bernard, (who built under licence Gardner diesels, but obtained both higher power, and lower specific fuel consumption than our domestic product from their 6cylinder engines). Unic, owned by Automobiles Simca, was swallowed up by Fiat, and became the main producer of 6cyl diesels, (my posts on the V8 Fiat/Ivecos refer), really interesting history! All Unic bonneted models possesed very light non powered steering, but for “noise”, there is nothing better than a V8 Galibier, or Izoard, (and what beautiful lorries, almost as handsome as a Bernard! but then we really move into real class)!!!
Autotransit, FAR, the forgotten French lorry manufacturer, licence built Scammell Mechanical Horses, (and later the Scarab). Really late models. 1965+, utilised the Saviem SG2 cab, on top of the 3wheel configuration. The whole Scammel system was incredibly forward looking, Designed to replace the horse and cart, with the same flexibility. You can uncouple, and recouple without leaving the cab, electric connections , and also brake, (mechanical, not air), being made automaticaly. Turn around time is minimal, manouverability incredible. My own Scarab,(1958), able to turn 360degrees, within 16ft, with a 14ft trailer! (Yes I suppose I am eccentric, but I use her throughout the winter delivering hay to my customers, and she is a great way to advertise my business, a tremendous talking point)!! The FARs were no less versatile, but again a tremendous idea not developed, then killed off by the stullifying effect of European legislation. But they are a b… to reverse!!
Lastly, just thinking about Saviem exports, Finland, BMA, your post office purchased a large number of SG2s back in my time, (70s), some as double cabs, for telephone pole erection, some as vans. All through our joint Renault car/Saviem lorry importer in Helsinki, whose name now evades me!! (old age)!! But I doubt that he ever sold any “heavies”!
Hey, bma, and Fh13, Sisu, WHAT A LORRY BUILDER! many people this side of the water do not realise just what incredible products this manufacturer turned out,and those with the big ■■■■■■■■ I shall retire for the night, a large glass off Bolinger, and dream of Sisu!! Bon chance mes braves, Cheerio for now.

How many company’s do you know that supply DVDs ?

Merc didn’t have any new Actro’s brochure but they forward one on to me when they get one
But gave me this

It’s kinda is under the sales banner… But not a brochure

Is this a third firm, or was it a part of FAR/Scammel?

/Stellan

hello saviem, your right about the saviem,s to finish post and telegraf .before that they had even renaults from 50 and 60,s ,whit the \front.think the firm could been autorex later hr auto.they sold very few hevy renautls until renault and sisu allied in 97 and the renault came to sisu salesment ,then the premium and magnum came to sale a bit.earlier aswell the finish army and the post used jp13 in service and delivery.renault have never been big in finland ,but stablised after the sisu time ,that era past in 09,and now sisu is a mercy, story is almost all, cheers benkku

…You need a computer with a column gear shift and a V8 Izoard engine Mr Saviem!

Another information sheet from my archive, according to the binder this one should be from 1975. My French are even worse than my English, so I´m not sure… but could “Tautliner” in this case be an English firm?

/Stellan

Yes Stellan, that is correct, “Tautliner” was patented by Boalloy of Congleton Cheshire , England and was for many years (and still is ) considered the ultimate in curtainsider bodies, not cheap but you got what you paid for!

Evening all, Stellan, SERMA, air brake conversions for Scammell type trailers, and an air actuated lock for the coupling, (any “older” British driver who had to “endure” the foibles of a worn Scammel coupling would tell you what a reassuring invention this lock would be)!! A worn coupling, and bumpy road could/would result in a very sudden “uncoupling incident”!! FAR, and SERMA, were seperate companys, but SERMA sold a lot of kits to SNCF, who, like British Rail, were big users of these versatile vehicles.
Stellan, K L Moeyersons, Londerzeee, Belgium, were appointed by Gerald Broadbents, “BoAlloy”, of Congleton Cheshire, as agent for the "low countries, for the “Tautliner” load bearing curtain sided bodywork. Copied by many, but never ever excelled!! Perhaps the man, who with his innovative designs has done more to improve the lot of the average lorry driver than any other in our industry! Over the years I did much business with my friend Gerald, and today in my farm office sits his original “sales demonstrator”, a single axle model Tautliner, built from the same materials as the full size versions, but 1.2m long,x300mm high, and 250 mm wide. Presented to me by Gerald, when he “retired” from Bo Alloy. This is a trailer that travelled the world, including the USA,& Japan, and introduced his concept of load control, which today is the norm. I would never part with her! Away to the Bollinger, good rain tonight, so no grass tommorow, Cheerio for now.

coments one new trademark in truckbuisnes    bma
