Once when I was Trade Plating in 1995 on that curved bit of M5 slip leaving M6 north at J8 to go south on the M5. A bin lorry with a round tank (they go down very quick near the bottom) and a faulty gauge.
Just remembered !
I had a lump of metal pierce through the bottom of a diesel tank on an F10, whilst I was driving over Newton Longville tip. Stuck a piece of wood in the hole to slow the flow. The Marshals & Machine Drivers were running round like mad looking for containers to save it for their cars.
Top fitter ‘Golden Graham’ from Cawleys, Luton, (Best fitter I know) came out to me , replaced & connected up a second hand tank & got me going again within a couple of hours.
