LOL!!! Nowt personal Albion. Get yourself over to the Warrington Riviera.
About £2 on the bus. It’s like Monaco compared to Palacefields.

Got you now Albion. That place opposite the Brindley on the other side of the canal that they’re building on used to be Crosville Bus Garage back in the day.
Building a pub there when they’ve dug all the crap out the ground, the licensing application has been on the fence for a while
the licencing application will never get passed while stuck on the fence ,it needs to go to hb council

I was going to suggest applying for a permit to napalm the place. But I don’t like wasting a good stamp.
I think it was napalmed years ago.
New bridge nearly open ,£8 ,no thanks .

Warrington will be the first place in the country to introduce 0.5ton except for access signs.

Yep, opening this weekend. Old bridge shut for a year, wouldn’t be surprised if they never opened it again.
Causing a lot of upset, unless you are a local like me, cheapest option is to pay 90 quid a month for a tag, imagine that on minimum wage.
Locals just pay a tenner a year. Tragically, I am quite excited about it opening, it’ll make my area a lot quieter.
Did you watch the firework display?
The money they spent on that could have paid half the cost of the bridge*
Missed it. But been over and back and its a gorgeous bridge. Difficult not to see it as a bypass rather than a ‘bridge to prosperity’ if you are in Runcorn.
I think £16 on each journey for HGV traffic is shocking, and the reality of it has yet to sink in for a lot of local operators. Warrington town centre and Thelwall Viaduct will see a big increase in traffic. I am an O/D and have no chance of getting a rate rise, so have to take it on the chin. Last year was talking to local business guy and he had been trying to rally a protest before it opened. He said he was shocked by the apathy of the majority of the local business community. All probably expecting some sort of concession.
Also, looking at the access routes to the bridge; with the narrowing to one lane in places, is just going to move any congestion to other areas. So that is two sides of access into Merseyside tolled. What next? Toll booths on the M62?
I haven’t seen it down to one lane on the access. In fact I’ve just crossed the second time and went in from Junction 12 and its multi lane.
Agree £16.00 round trip is bad. Thelwall will indeed see an increase, Warrington centre, you’d have to be a masochist!

Approaching the 56 at Frodsham , after Weston Point it goes from 2 lanes,to 1 and then upto 5.That pinch point will be chaos at peak times.
For th majority of us it’ll probably be treated like the Humber bridge, where we take the long way round

Pinch points on Western Point Expressway by Castner Kellner and at Astmoor, and when you come off before the bridge for Warrington coming from Speke.
What is the point of marking off half a road with chevrons? You should never underestimate the naivety of some of these road designers. Not so long ago they done away with the large roundabout on Dunningsbridge Road near Searforth Docks. Road out of dock was a dual-carriageway and had been for ever. They allocated one lane for local traffic and one lane for through traffic. i.e all the trucks exiting the dock. The queues were ridiculous at rush hour. Eventually somebody seen sense and had both lanes set for through traffic. Who with any foresight would of planned that in the first place? I have a feeling there will be similar problems at some of these new junctions.

I know where you mean, but that section of dual carriageway past ineos, Weston point, castner, is not the main route anymore. IIRC, it will take 20% of the traffic that it has been doing. I came over the bridge from Hale Bank 20 mins ago across the bridge (that entry on is still coned off) and down to junction 12 for 56 and Frodsham. It’s two lanes all the way, it sends you through the middle of Runcorn and nowhere near Weston Point.

See above for comments on Weston point. Again, you won’t come past astmoor from the 56, it will be local traffic only. Leaving the 56 to go to Liverpool, dual carriageway all the way through.
No idea about coming from Speke, I rarely go that way.
So just to verify is the old bridge now closed?

Yes, no traffic, though I believe pedestrians and cyclists can still cross.

My lot and nearly all the local firms have Humber tags so no wait to use the bridge. This mob also has Severn Bridge tags too. They don’t say anything when we use the Keyfuels card on the M6 toll.
