Just to add about the trackers. Yes you are tracked and if off schedule you’ll be asked why but they generally know which duties tend to run late and why. If you make a mistake just hold your hands up and take a ribbing better that than BS and be banned from the site.
Sent you a pm mate. Regarding the trackers, are you assigned certain routes to follow then?
No not really, most of them are obvious which way to go though. In your duty pack you’ll get a “318” which has all your movements timed. ie
21:09 Start facility Southampton VOC
21:34-21:54 travel Southampton MC empty
21:54-22:24 load assist Southampton MC
22:24-23:22 travel Dorset MC(Bournemouth)
23:22-00:07 unload/load assist Dorset MC(Bournemouth)
00:07-00.22 meal relief Dorset MC(Bournemouth)
00:22-02:56 travel SWDC(Bristol)
and so on
Also in pack you’ll get google maps of locations and occaisionally suggested route map but as above it’s usually pretty obvious which route to take. You also get a conformance sheet with all timing points on, to which you fill in actual arrival and departure times and a section for any problems such as reasons for delays be it roadworks, congested yards, unhelpful indoor staff, and so on.
Anyone know what the class 2 work is like. Not so much marchwood but around crawley and sussex?
Cheers
When I did R.M. work you sat on your arris for a few hours then drove like a scalded cat then did nothing again.Everyone seems to do no more than 3 hours work in an 8 hour shift.
I’d rather be busy than standing around scratching my arse.
Give me a decent run out rather than 5 hours in the rest room any day.

That may be the case at a Mail centre on distribution to delivery offices but Marchwood is a vehicle operations centre, no mail is processed there, 99% of runs are out for more than 9-12 hours.
Hardly any duties are less than 8 hours, most being rotates of 54 hours one week followed by 36 the next and lots of different combinations.
Employed drivers are on 36.15 hours per week with overtime after that at just above basic, so most average out at 42-47 hours pw, this pays about £2k a month into the bank including shift pay and home every day/night depending on the shifts.
Agency slot in wherever and there’s always work for agency drivers.
And no, there are no employed jobs going, 10 years ago you could have walked right into a job but now there’s a long waiting list for dead man’s shoes and the only one’s getting the job are Royal Mail staff transferring in, some have been waiting 7years
There is no need to rush around because isocrap will bubble you!
Three duties go into Mt Pleasant every day.
Artics go into Portsmouth twice a day and reverse down to the platform so the inside yard isn’t blocked and yes it is quite a laff reversing in there with a full size artic
