DEANB:
Nice pics Pete ! I assume this is the same Munro as the Volvo F10 pic you posted.
Actually, no - the posted pic was of Allen Munro Transport of Burscough - in my experience, a rate-cutting clone of the original Kammac, and which failed relatively quickly.
Munro’s of Aberdeen fleet were yellow and red IIRC!,a large fleet of Atkinson Borderer’s at one time.
I may be wrong here but I think Woodwards were from Macclesfield area and may have been potato merchants. Somebody will put me right I’m sure.
Looks like that honour falls to yours truly, then!
Woodwards were general hauliers based at tiny premises next to the Flower Pot pub at the top of Park Lane in Macclesfield. I gained popularity with the owners when I called at their yard for delivery notes and executed a three-point-turn instead of churning up the tarmac! When I first noticed their vehicles in the 1960s they ran quite a few ERFs with box (or curtain, memory’s a bit cr*p) bodies. They had twin air filters mounted high up on the headboard to keep them out of the dust & grime.
In later times they moved to Buglawton, near Congleton where they had room for warehouses and concentrated on storage, gradually reducing the fleet until the present time when they run just the one artic in order to transport their collection of steam engines and vintage tractors.
The firm you are thinking of, Chris, is Park’s Potatoes in a similar green/red livery. They are still operating although I haven’t seen the same family’s general haulage vehicles around for some time.
