Punchy Dan:
The sheeting by the brian swindell driver is a sure match for anything posted by Denz’l
Dan,
Don’t you start on Dennis as I think he is still in shock with CF trying to put him right about roping and sheeting!
It is a smart job by Swindells but have you seen the Teasdales sheeting…from ■■■■■■■ as well!
B. Swindell Haulage Ltd had a tidy fleet back in the day and their motors were always well turned out.
Unfortunately it all came to an end in 1991 after they went into liquidation.
Hi punchy dan , the body on nj groses stepframe looks very much like a Rothdean of cinderford to me , i know groses had some years ago. looks like mine anyroad, tho mine was an early one. rothdean numbered all there bodies in the early days with a simple no as they were built, mine was no 66 to be built, bit of useless information there!!
Thanks Baz I think your right .

Baz/Dan,
A Harold Reads driver told me that Harold’s trailers made by Rothdean was all a “special” spec exclusive to Reads! They certainly stood up to the scrap job well, I have some of Grose’s coming up later! Pete
Morning Pete.
I have never seen a trailer sectioned like the Bailey’s one.Was it for carrying those pebbles from the south coast to the Potteries - can’t remember the correct term for them? I remember A and H Davey from Stoke coming out of the Smoke int 60s carrying them when I was on nights.
And I think you are right about the 111 and 88 being Cartwrights from Lincoln.

Ha ha,aye are you trying get me going about Lancashire by any chance?
Are Whitehouse still in business I wonder? When the M5 was being widened around Worcester/Strensham we used to run with them carting fill sand from Tilcon’s pit at Trysull to the motorway bridges, those lads never stopped! I remember one that lost his offside rear mudguard and lights and he ran all week like that. We brought a load down from Ballidon to Lichfield/Walsall/ Wolverhampton or similar then ran empty across to Trysull, did three loads to the M5 around Strensham and then backloaded ashphalt sand from Tilcon’s Cornets End pit back to Ballidon. A busy day, but we looked comparitively idle compared to those lads!
Pete.

Pete,
As you said they never stopped, one of Mervyn Applebys drivers left him to work for Whitehouses and went back to Applebys a few weeks later!
Pete the Dutch outfit I think was Visbeen, cheers Buzzer.
