Just been down and had a look, does nt look any worse so gonna drive it back to yard. One thing I never mentioned is it has just had major work done in replacing the brake pads on on both sides so whether thats linked or not I’m not too sure. Thanks for all your helpful replies.
sounds as though they had the hub off and never cleaned up their mess
I wouldn’t be touching it. Could be someones ■■■■ for all you know!
Or a number 2 with a bit of dust mixed in .
Employee…Let someone higher make a decision , as if you are wrong its possibly your fault , if you have told them its not your problem , Easy really.
Best advice yet.

If your just changing the pads you dont need to touch the hubs but if they have changed the discs they have probably nipped a seal as they refitted the hubs.
Easy done as them mothers are heavy and I mean bloody heavy.
Well, on making the decision to travel home from Glasgow I made the choice of route to be the a1 to avoid vosa on the m74 and m6. Did nt quite work out as planned as I was pulled by vosa in Newcastle and had to follow into the test station there. They had me there for an hour and fifteen mins and gave my wagon and driving records the full going over. Luckily for me I had defected the problem on my 45 the drive before so they were fine with it. One thing I will say is I was pulled for having bulging curtains and he did say they were having a clamp down on load security and I had to pull the curtains to show it was strapped( make sure your load is secure). In the end gave me a green light but said he had put two advisories of vehicle security (load it tidier) and to get the hub seal sorted.

Yep, it was the discs.

Deffo sounds like the hub seal perished, had the same problem with the DAF im currently driving, ran it for 3 months and was constantly getting the EBS truck warning displaying on the dash, then one day, went from Shrewsbury down to Basingstoke with no more than 9 ton in my trailer, the brakes were nearly on fire due to the amount of oil spraying onto the discs. got the truck back to the yard, 2 new hubs, discs and pads later and theres no problems at all,.Keep an eye on it, defect it and mention to your boss, as the last thing he needs is for it to go ■■■■ up and then him paying a fortune to have you recovered.
You carried on using it for 3 months with perished hub seals??
