Look more carefully at the picture- you’ve missed
the point!

Flunkey, like the previous poster I fully take your point but I think you are missing a point or two.
Firstly, it’s irrelevant that he was an agency driver, I have seen straps left in a far worse state by the regular drivers. Everything from just thrown in the box with no attempt to coil them, right through to knots that are so tight you can’t undo them and others soaked in fuel/oil rotting them away.
Secondly, as has been said, it may well be this guy has never used or at least never been shown the correct way to use and store straps. Whatever the reason, he has clearly spent a good deal of time trying to leave them neat and tidy for YOU!
So why not cut him a bit of slack, be magnanimous in your superior knowledge of such things and pass that knowledge on?
Forget the straps…
What’s the reason for faking a sicky on the ‘advice’ of a union rep?
Incredibly bad advice I might add…any union official that encourages their members to commit gross misconduct should be treated with extreme caution!

And admitting it in cyberspace for all to see. How many drivers on here have been sacked or disciplined for comments on here? I’m betting I’d need more than my fingers and toes to count them up.

Oh that’s quite OK but not the way the straps were left, was it one strap or more?? heinous crime of the worst calibre

I agree it’s a daft way to roll straps, but I would have thought that teaching him the right way would be more productive than trying to humiliate him on Youtube.Still I guess it’s more fun to take the ■■■■ than to help someone who may never have used straps before to learn how to roll them up properly
+1
(really is time we had a like button here)
FLUNKEY:
I pulled an organised sicky this Mon/Tues gone just to prove a point to the company as advised by my union rep…all that aside this morning I arrive at the yard to learn they had two agency drivers. One destroyed a hiab that may be fixed tomorrow and look at what the other one left me! Have a good close look…

This guy must have far too much time on his hands…or something is seriously wrong?
Please let me know your takes…
Is that a yellow chalk line to the right ■■?
STOP… Do not move anything.
Perhaps your union rep would like to be more productive, suggest to your employers that you’re having issues and a positive solution would be to insist all agency drivers are inducted / assessed prior to commencing work.
If they’ve been shown how to do things properly once, maybe you’ll be a little more confident about the ‘agency muppet’ driving your motor next time you’re on holiday, and you might even find he turns out to be a colleague in good time.

Spot on I agree completely.

This is “off topic” my industrial actions- as to getting fired or diciplined- bring it on it only strengthens my case-in this instance.

No, it isn’t ‘off topic’…it’s just uncomfortable for you having been shown to be a dodgy malingering work shy.
Maybe if you explained why your rep gave such awful advice in the first place we may adjust our jaded view of your work ethic?

ETHICS…Well “X amount of pay for X amount of hours” 44+1.5+5=x…pay me or we go thru the process 7 days of notice of intent then 28 days of “Union Rep” negotiating=Tribunal…takes X months=getting paid for that which we are doing?
Here is the concept pay for that which you are recieving how “Thatcherite”?
Is every driver at your place taking the same action? Or is it just you?
Seriously, if your rep has told you to commit gross misconduct…you need to start thinking for yourself…
You might start with considering the wisdom of admitting to such an act on an Internet forum, which is widely visited by employers!
One more time in “Lorrryist” pay me or leave the building- URTU.com -remember solidarity?-do a search-try google…
Getting back on topic, did you see the driver and did you explain to him/her how to roll the straps properly ?
You know it’s the right thing to do
