I’m hopefully going to start with RT Keedwell in the next couple weeks as a tramper out of Highbridge but just reading all this about redundancies ? How can they take people on but make people redundant at the same time I’m very confused!
Isn’t that illegal to take on a newbie replacement for someone “made redundant” who presumably didn’t get redundancy money - or worse - claimed the minimum amount, as a government grant to pay it?
…Now where have I heard THAT old tosh before?

It is if its a like for like job, which this isn’t because the redundancies aren’t at Highbridge and the ones being made redundant won’t relocate

Correct…
I went past Highbridge yesterday and it looked “business as usual” looking in from where I was sitting…
I think the Scottish job @ Uddingston has perhaps told them and “others” to prepare for “bad news”, as John Millar`s yard looked pretty full on friday when i went past there, and they do a fair bit out of the same plant…
Uddingston now run by McLellan, ex of McLellan Transport, wouldn’t work for him if he was the last company left.
If you google Keedwell, you’ll find there’s a miriad of companies Stuart’s got his finger in. Always makes me nervous in difficult times!! Close one, continue trading under another!

Probably why I saw four or five empty John Miller flat beds heading south from Glasgow late morning on friday, nothing to load or they are of the same thought as you regarding McLellan ?
Keedwell “group” are always going to need the “lenders” onside for sure, that is the downside of growth, you become their puppet

Stuart Keedwell, while making drivers redundant, has just put a 20 plate Merc on the road. Logic?
His money, his choice…poor taste like, but it could have been on order since January, when all this ■■■■ was on the other side of the world, and not our problem ?
Not looking to defend him, but some times, its just the timing

PCP Finance, Buy it, Give it back, replace it. makes perfect sense for three years.
What do you want to be seen in at the golf club, a second hand van or a new Mercedes?
The 20 plate I was referring to was a unit, not a car!!! And the fact that Merc had turned round and cancelled an agreement to take back a load of 63 plates, would suggest that Stuart was in no way obliged to take the new unit.

Ah Forgive me! I thought he had rolled up in a new E class with a bunch of redundancy notices in his hand
Well…received final wage from Keedwell today, got new job today, start Monday. While Stuart Keedwell is paying off decent, dependable drivers, others are taking on. His loss!

Goodluck in your new job.
Some of the Keedwell depots have seen a drop in the work, either because companies have less stuff to move about, or because the usual suspects are going around, undercutting work wherever they can, in a desperate attempt to keep some cashflow going.
I’m sure Keedwell are not making drivers redundant, or reducing the fleet size, for the fun of it.
I think everybody needs to keep their fingers crossed for a while.

No 20 plate mercs on the road - and no redundancies in Highbridge
We are trying to run a business and negative untrue facts don’t help !!
I’m gonna hazard a guess here that Deek is a high up in the organisation of Keedwells and has had his/her attention drawn to this post. What I will say Deek is that management consistently fail to update their workers on changes or in fact no changes within a company and then get all bent out of shape when the rumour mill starts. Do yourself a favour; include the only people (the drivers) who actually earn money for the company into any plans short or long term that the company may have. That way you keep a happy and productive workforce.
Btw, before you launch a witchunt I DO NOT work for your company.

You mention only Highbridge, what about the other sites. Typical pen pusher coming up with silly answers. Management are economical with the truth. Honesty is good for business.
