A follow on from my thread the other day,
When being assessed on my vehicle checks I got marked down as doing it wrong.
Once I get my keys and go to the motor I always have a quick walk round just to see its basically got lights and all the tyres are round, just because I cant be mithered filling a tacho, doing the checks and seeing the obvious, change moter etc,
BUT my (lets call it pre check) is still recorded on my tacho through a manual entry, and my pre check is down with my bag on my back and hands full o paperwork.
Apparently, I am not allowed to do this according to the Training centre, my argument being that the pre check is still logged in the form of a manual entry, which is as soon as i get in the wagon within a minute of finishing my pre check.
I have told my gaffer the 2 circumstances and told him I have no faith in what I am about to be ‘taught’.

It is all crap, it doesn’t matter how you record your circle check, as long as you do record it. As you say, a quick flirt round will show you the unit has a flat tyre or a broken mirror.
The trainers are making a fortune out of this CPC thing and trying to “train my way or no way” which is plainly wrong. I am an advocate of training if it is done properly by someone who knows his and our job.
Recently a mate of mine has done a couple of modules and the trainer was about 22, this mate has been on the road longer than me at about 40 years

I just find it annoying that I know I am right yet they are saying I am wrong and argue it then has me questioning myself half the day.
Noting wrong with putting you checks down on a manual entry but how do you check oil, water tyres etc with your “hands full o paperwork”.

I thought that’s what all the red lights on the dash were for?

Kick the tyres and then look at the dash. Sorted.
