Iāve heard Maritimesā lorries are equipped with fridges and also microwaves.
Any other companies?

I would say nearly all companyās that do tramping. Maritime have there trucks equipped with all that gear because you spend all your working life in the truck being a box jockey
Get yourself a job on the reefers then you will have a huge fridge to store your food.

I would say nearly all companies that do tramping DONT have fridges. In all my years driving Iāve only ever worked for 1 firm that had fridges fitted.
Better off splashing the cash and buy a waeco compressor fridge. Expensive but will last for years. I have a cdf25 that is now 8 years old and still going strong
Look out for services with an M&S ā¦ best value for money on a services
Grab the breakfast deals at MSAās ā¦ Greggs Ā£3.00 coffee and breakfast barm is good vfm

This. Virginia is the only company Iāve ever worked for that specs their new trucks with fridges for the drivers.
On the poo point, he seems very insistent on an answer, if you eat a healthy regular diet then ones movements will be regular and predictable! So less likely to have an emergency when something unpredictable comes down the production line.
I do a weekly shop in Tesco, have a fitted fridge, but I would have bought one otherwise. In my opinion you cant do without a fridge, it may technically possible but it really wouldnāt be good for your health. When my fridge is empty my first job is to fill it up. Eating well is so so important. I make do with a single ring cartridge style cooker at the moment, and have a frying pan and milk pan with lids, and just got ceramic coated ones which are amazing. Price wise Asda are best for cooking utensils. Like someone said once you self cater you cant go back. I originally did it to save money when I was skint but now because it means I can eat want I want, when I want and much better quality than most places. Its also great for those times youāre parked up unexpectedly, like when someone says they wont load up till tomorrow etc, you can just park up where you are and get cooking.

I donāt bother with a portable fridge as it takes up my passenger seat. The little bottles of cravendale milk are great because it keeps for a week without refrigeration as itās triple filtered or some such, that does my coffeeās (might not last as long in the height of summer though).
I donāt have a microwave either but Marks & Spencer do a cracking tinned food range which I just beast when in there & leave in the cab to heat up along with boil in the bag rice. I try not to have too much snack food in the cab as I just cane it. Donāt buy cheap tinned food as itās minging.
Wash wise, you are limited to showers in services / wet wipes in the cab. You could faff about with a wet wash in a washing up bowl if you boiled a kettle in the cab.
I know a guy who has one of those big gas bottles you can buy in camping stores, which he stores in the side locker so frees up more space in the cab and a dual stove, done a fine job of it too.
Donāt you find that cooking in the cab full time makes it a bit smelly??
Nope, it you keep cab well ventilated and its fairly clean to start with then the smell wont linger long. And even if it did Id still cook for myself, consider health as the most important thing and the odd smell wont make me sacrifice that
How much do you trampers generally take home a week?
Late starts Monday, early finishes Friday?

Iād wager not many trampers get a late start Monday to early Friday too often. I certainly dont
Haha almost no free time then?
Well if you consider anything over four days work a week no free time then no, not much free time!
I meant in the evening during the week but all I ever do is sit at home and watch tv as Iām usually up early and too knackered to do anything anyway
Ok maybe start 21.30 on a sun finish midday ish on a fri
Or start early tues finish sat at some point
1 of the driver I know starts late mon/early tues finish sat early evening
Some do start early mon mor then finish on a fri at some point mainly tea time ish
Or has been know to run out sun afternoon finish fri night
Just depends
since as you people say , there are no fridges/chillers in a lorryās cabs, then this is a must:
amazon.co.uk/Waeco-Mobicool- ā¦ 34FTTJ1VHQ
a bit pricey, but for me some type of chiller, would be a must if I was to tramp.
I just donāt fancy wasting my time at the end of a shift going shopping, prefer to prepare some food from what I have in my fridge, and get some proper sleep.
The time you spend shopping should be kept to minimum, as it is , in my view, time consuming exercise.
