I stoped there on Friday for a breakfast for the first time bloody £6.20. not going there any more.
Wouldn’t park in a place like that but I tried a meal there about a year ago.Good looking bint served me and the food looked O.K. HOWEVER,it was the worst meal I have ever paid for. Take my advice, avoid at all costs.
id rather wipe my bum with a broken bottle than park in there again
hell hole
Avoid at all costs ,the toilets and showers a couple of years ago were spotless, but now they are a absolute disgrace.
I stopped there about 2 months ago for breakfast, luckily i used the toilets first , and if the toilets were like that whats the kitchen like, so i walked out and as i went i commented to the owner, or i think he was the owner, he was the only english man there, all he said was have ■■■ and travel
Klunk, I seem to remember someone else having a similar convo with the owner of this dump…cant think who it was now, am sure it was on here■■?
The strange thing about the Quernow is the only regular people I have ever seen in there are well known fleets from the North East and Scotland. So which ones have destroyed the place?

Peculiar thing to say!

Not at all, if you read Klunks post above about the toilets and the showers. The many times I have passed there recently the parking has been full of UK registered trucks, and not trucks from the Eastern Bloc who are normally blamed on TruckNet for ripping the sinks off walls.

The inference being that this is being done by either Scots or Northumbrians! I say again, what a peculiar thing to say, nasty even.
How long has the quernow been in this condition?ive been retired 8yrs now but when i used it in 2000 it was a bit pricey but the food and toilets were in good nick.
The old owner used to look after it top notch. Isn’t it that Mario that had the caravan just North of Worksop roundabout that has it now ?
It’s been a real DUMP for the last 2 / 3 year, haven’t been in since the day the high winds blew all the trucks over on a saturday a few year back.
Police made us STOP or we would have went on
Brian
Last time I stoppedthere, only a few months back the food was awful and it was staffed entirely by poiski’s I don’t know if that has anything to do with the drop in standards.

I dont know who spoke about it on here but i remember reading in one of the truck mags or even the freepaper about the boss.
Apparently a Stobart driver took his meal back to complain or something along those lines and the owner told him “■■■■■■■ stobart ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ off and dont ■■■■■■■ come back”
Do you think he has issues with the uniform?
I have to agree with most people, the food(if you could call it that) was disgusting. It must have breached human rights laws and was also overpriced. Staff were all foreign not that this explains the food, never went to toilet or showers, only stopped for food thank god.

i aint ever stopped a night on quernhow but read many bad reports about the place . a few months ago i stopped on londonderry and was good deal good meal and i had a drink in bar on my own while all the other truck drivers watched their tellys in thier cabs
hiya, must be about 8 years since i was last in there, but used to be ok was a bit near home for me to night out there, somebody said the scots and northumbrians must have wrecked the place why didn’t they include us durhamanians as well we used it quite a bit, the people i saw parked up overnight were usually south of peterborough so who has wrecked it, it’s still a shame good pull-ups are becomeing rare as hens teeth. thanks harry long retired.
I have had the same experiences with the Quernhow Cafe,I was ripped off for the princely sum off £6.20 for what was allegedly a ‘breakfast’, Quite possibly the most expensive plate of pigswill in history.
I however, rather than moan about it,sent in the enviromental health dept to have a chat with the proprietor & wrote a substantial piece in ‘WHEELS’ magazine detailing everything from the spring breaking potholes to a detailed discription of the revolting breakfast & not forgetting the disgusting toilets,I also asked the question who is to blame for this, the dodgy owners who see us as cash cows, or us drivers for using the piggerys!
The thing is tho, I hope my action cost the filthy pig thousands! I hope he invested that £6.20 well
Cheers guys!
hopefully with its access now not so easy it will shut down, how it was ever allowed too stay open was a mystery.
Quite disheartning to read all the negative comments about the quernhow, used to be one of the places i always used to aim for breakfast on my way oop north. Always got a good breakfast and looked forward to it, how times change, in this case seems for the worse… Another one bites the dust… !
I remember when the Q/H. first earley 60s. family run it was only small to begin with but they soon developed to a nice size the grub was 1st class spotless clean nice staff I have only been in once since it changed hands never again what a shame another one bites the dust, but its a known fact that some drivers are their own worst enemies by abuseing the facilities provided for them.
