It’s not pig pee. It’s water with artificially produced urea.

Makes no difference, urea is urea and is produced in all mammal urine.
Ad Blue contains synthetic urea. It always makes me laugh thinking about the logistics of trying to mop up animal ■■■■ and turn it into Ad Blue.
I ran out a few years ago in Milton Keynes & yes, it goes into limp mode, gets you back to the yard or garage, then just top up, no damage done. If you try to drive it for any distance & VOSA stop you, be ready for a Smacked Arse, because the emissions go through the roof.
On the new Merc’s (euro 6) the engine needs to go through a ‘Burn’ Cycle every few thousand KM’s, it can be done while it’s moving along on a motorway, but if you switch it off during the cycle, you have to park up & sit with it running for about 40ish minutes, fail to Complete the Burn Cycle & it has to go into the workshop & that will cost loads !
(I believe it’s all to do with Incinerating the Noxious Particles in the exhaust/Adblu system)
If a driver continues to ignore the AdBlue gauge and warning lamp, the tank will run dry. The truck’s NOx emissions levels will soar, and then the next time the truck is started, its power output will be significantly downrated as the empty tank and increased emissions are registered by the truck’s ECU. The loss of power is very noticeable to the driver.
So big Al… you need to be checking that you got sufficient in the tank before heading out on ya journey… Thing is if the boss found out then he’s not gonna be impressed …and some other companies will discipline you over it…
I dont plan on runnin oot its just no one in the depo seems arsed to fill up blue or derv i just wanted tae know its the same as i want tae stick the diff lock in and drive tae find oot what will happen. But i wont be doing that either! But cheers for the heads up lads
If the other retards can’t be arse then leave it with um, just be the better man… If it means you having to fill up both every time… it might seem a micky take but then you can say Im the professional…
True laddy! And i dont mind fillin up the tank cos i git tesco points so happy days. And i am a far way aff being a pro i only got ma class 2 a few months ago but i aint much of a muppet as some of the guys i have ■■■ across.
Fuel up & ad blue before trip (whenever possible, mind nothing else goes in the ad blue tank as im hearing it can cause problems.
Can’t you just pee into the tank as it’s only urea?
I am feelin like a fudd noo. I know tae fill up n stuff its just i was wondering if the adblue ran oot would the truck cut oot. And i dont need tae fill up every day cos i am only knockin aboot glasgow. How ever its still good tae know. And we have already had the pee in the tank shout on top of if its pig or sheep pee;)
I haven’t personally experienced running out of ad blue.
A warning system is in place for the lack of ad blue, the engine will run at a reduced rate of 60% torque after it has come to a complete stop. This can be driven & should reach speed limits of the roads, albeit at the slower pace reduction of 60% torque. I t is illegal to run out of ad blue similar to being without water in your washer bottle/ not working.
