Poppy for Your Car/Truck

And the although the amount of people taking part every year seems to get bigger, for me, the amount of veterans that fought in WW2 of which I have an interest in, gets smaller.

.

surely we are remembering veterans from conflicts after WW2 as well

You are correct Denis, but like I said in my reply, WW2 is a specific interest to me.

Ken.

i do not buy a poppy anymore, no not because i’m a tight git. because i have loads of em.
BUT, i still give £10 to the poppy appeal every year, and it is their 90th year 2011.
i bought a truck poppy about 3 years ago , and like what has been said.
it split and broke after a couple of days.

the rbl poppy appeal and help for heroes are the only two charity’s i support.

Ken.

Maybe a bit off topic but please bear with me, my son will be 11 on the the 11th of the Eleventh 2011. We have always told him how significant this day is and how important it is to remember how many live’s have been sacrificed for the freedom that we enjoy now.

Well mines on

Mine’s on as well…

As much as i support the poppy appeal etc, it seem 2 things are happening,
1 Mines bigger/costs more than yours :unamused:
2 It seems a “donation” is not acceptable with some collectors, at my local Tesco store i put £8 in £ coins into the box and ask’s for a normal poppy and a plastic one for the truck, the reply i got shocked me.
The guy said we ask and expect £5 FOR THE PLASTIC POPPY .
Am i missing something here, i always thought it was a “donation” not a selling price.
Agreed you don’t put a penny in and get the top stuff but surely the “donation” is down to what the individual can afford not what the current asking price should be.
i did point out the amount of my donation but was told “I didn’t see you put that amount in” :frowning: so you can’t have one.
