To be honest I don’t get it, well ok for multi drop short distance, but for long distance, what is the point, they even wear it in the café and Msa, look at me with my hiviz on, it is sad, every truck driver seems to wear their silly do not knock me down bib, even the EE drivers are doing it now.
Do they wear it at home for a night of passion with the old dear, I bet it is a real turn on, glow in the dark health and safety nonsense and bullo5cks.
I can t see any problem or or… if drivers wear all the time if this hi-vis clean, but some drivers was washed hi-vis just last years, pollished shoes as well 2 years ago.
i think there’s far more important things in this world other than where people choose to wear there PPE does it really matter to you in the grand scheme of things personally i don’t wear one in cab but i dont give a monkeys if others do
I like to wear my orange long sleeve whilst driving to keep my own clothes clean and not contaminated from the filthy truck seats. Sometimes wear my gloves too if the round thing is all covered in grease.
I have to wear hi-vis rail spec trousers and polo shirt when I am doing tanker work as the company we do the work for requires it, pain in the ■■■ as the polo shirt is really hot in the summer but unfortunately I don’t get a choice. Got use to it now and to be perfectly honest what people think doesn’t worry me, just do my work and get on with it!!!
Why does it matter to anyone? Wear one, don’t wear one… it’s nobody else’s business. There are one or two more important things in life than who wears what.
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but my mate’s wife recently put pictures up of him playing with his daughter at home after a hard days limping and he was still wearing his high-vis vest.
I tried to explain to my wife why I was laughing so hard, but she just didn’t get it.
Have to say,I hate putting those things on.
And hard hats and having to charge every ■■■■■■■ thing.
And every time I go to plug in the Chargers it’s always the wrong way round when I put it in.
Just saying.
I put my hi viz on when I get out the car at a clients car park and take it off when I get back into my car at the end of the shift. I only tend to do local(ish) and mid distance work through the agencies, but I truly forget the hi viz vest is even on. I don’t see reflections in the windscreen, nor give a monkey’s chuff about what others think of it. It makes me more visible when getting in and out of the truck, moving between parked vehicles and forklifts and pacifies any H&S at most places I deliver to.
Main reason I wear it though, is that I don’t transfer any crud off the trucks seat, to the seats of my own car. Sadly a few errant permanent guys seem to like living in mobile pig sty’s.
It’s company policy round my way for all bus drivers to wear a Hi Vis whilst driving.
I don’t know why 'cos if you can’t see a bloody bus coming a bit of yellow isn’t going to make a lot of difference…
Who gives a toss? What I don’t get is why people like you seem to get their knickers in a twist about it. Is it causing you any harm? Is it preventing you from going about your daily business?
I’ve been known to wear mine while driving, if the place I load at requires me to be wearing one (they nearly all do nowadays) and the place I’m going to tip at requires me to be wearing one then I don’t always bother to take it off.
And so what!
Mind you I do agree that anyone who can’t see you hi-viz or not shouldn’t be allowed to drive anyway
I NEVER drive with one on for the reason I pointed out in my last post.( ie looking a 2at )
For the same reason I also never drive while wearing a satin basque or (being a Newcastle fan) a Sunderland shirt, but even I would consider the last 2 before the hi viz then again I aint agency
I wear mine because I have short runs. I used to take it off when doing long haul but it is not worth it now as one of my pickup/drops is asda who rollock you for not even having it done up at the front! With me forgetting to put it back on all the time I dare not risk getting banned from their site so I just leave it on and think of it as work attire.
