No need for driving backwards or forwards, no need to stop and tighten them either, which can be the last thing you want to do pulling up a hill in the snow.
Doing it that way I can chain 4 tyres (double drive) and be rolling again in 5 minutes.

Wow 5 mins,your good,
Five minutes is more a figure of speech than anything, but I’m sure I could be chained up in less than 15mins.

I will say that you are looking at nearer 30 mins,if your used to it,why do you use 4 Chains,■■ you must have crap tyres,i have maybe used Chains 10 times in 20 years, but there again i have very very good tyres with pig, lots and lots of pig, more pig the better,
No I’m looking at 15mins, place the blocks, drive up on them and throw the chains over, tighten them up, drive off the blocks, pick them up and put them back in their hidey hole and away.
The reason I chain all drive wheels is because the law here states that 4 tyres must be chained, so I could use doubles which would take twice as long to fit or do it the quick, easy, clean way with 4 singles in half the time.
I’ve only ever chained once from being stuck, the other times have been because the cops have put on the flashing lights to say that all trucks must chain up beyond that point.

I certainly don’t do it for the fun of it
Well we all have our own methods of doing things, ive never seen a Norwegian do it that way,but hey ho we all are different, you must be quoting the law in Finland cos it aint the law here,
I did it in five minutes too! pulled them off the trailer, put them on the tag, concured that they were the right size and hung them back again. no need to fight now

I never took offence
I run in Canada. The laws are different here, they insist you carry chains for four drive tyres, and one steer and trailer tyre. So we must carry four singles and two doubles by law from Oct 1st to Apr 30th, a couple of the US states require that you must also carry a spare.

I know it’s not a truck ;-(. But it does have 18 wheels! Bangladesh 0430 local time. Loaded up with 118 tonnes of freight, mainly clothes this time. Ex Bangladesh bound for Primark UK via Brussels. I’ve got some great pics of some weird trucks you see overseas. I’ll dig them out.

Hej Dan, it’s great! The work is pretty varied and hands-on to keep you fit, the tackle is great and it’s very peaceful here compared to southern europe. I’m looking forward to winter as well, although I am a bit nervous about putting on chains, have only seen how to do it on youtube
here’s the truck I’m driving now, the same as two previous ones. the load is styrox at 3.1m high, so to fit under the canopy at the gas station in Enontekiö I had to let the air out of the suspension on the truck and the trailer.
Hi Milodon! Was it you that past me in Stockholm this morning on E18 going west?
