I know the bridge you mean, I was told recently, that end of Church street is completely owned by one of the big news corps, and they were responsible for building all those expensive car show rooms. I don’t know if they own all the franchises or lease them out.
I used to live on the north end of Church Street in the early 90’s about 2 blocks up from the Flag Hotel, not far from the BP servo. I always thought it was bit that there seemed to be loads of people getting about with broken legs and arms, then I found out the the building opposite my flat was a very exclusive private sports medical clinic.
When I was on tippers ( for a short while ) you always had to stop and engage the PTO as it wasn’t possible to do it with out have the clutch full to the floor for at least 4 seconds.
Dirty Dan:
Hi Jeff! Nice pics good to see some different
By the way do you got any pics of you travels to scandinavian?
Reg Danne
First up why do you think I have been to Scandinavia?
However the company I was doing the Scandinavian work for was the same company I did China and Oman for, they had a very strict no cameras and no recording devices rule. We did have a couple of Scandinavian drivers on with us, one form Denmark by the name of Hal, who I did my one and only Libya with, and the other one was from Sweden by the name of Tom who looked like a 70’s guy ■■■■ star, never stopped talking and turned out to be a one hit wonder. But he was the first guy I knew that had a micro wave cooker in his truck.
It’s a pity really as I could have wasted many meters of film trying to get photos of the Auroras and trucks as well.
I did actually used to have a various cameras and at times took some with me, but for various reasons I either lost them run out of film, never had film, or just couldn’t be bothered. It often seemed that the more expensive the camera the faster I would loose it.
After all I was probably going to be back that way next month so why would I need a photo. Ahh the folly of youth, hind sight’s a wonderful thing.

0 A friend of mine who emigrated to New Zealand eight years ago now drives this beast for BP.
■■? really ■■?
the photo is form Big Lorry Blog CM 2010.
But it’s a good one any way.
Many years a go I was speeking to Bruce Honeywill from Truckin Life and Clarkie at a show and they asked me about doing a set of tautliner curtains as an ad, but we could never get a final deal worked out. Then he told me he got a set printed. I saw the trailer getting about a few times, mainly round about Sydney.
I’m not sure if I’m allowed to put this link on here as I’m not advertising anything. I’ll take it down if the admin says anything.
Here are a couple I am involved with !! the Scania is a 6x6 and believe me she can work over rough trails when fully loaded it could hardly believe it !!!
The Volvo on the other hand is a highway vehicle
That Scania looks the part, we run 4x4 Isuzu’s of various sizes here and the guys say they can get them to almost any where. Unfortunately.
it’s that time of year again, it has been 42c and very wind for the last few days and everyone is a bit twitchy at the moment, especially after last year.
The local crew has just been given delivery of a new pump that can ■■■■ 8000 liters a minute and squirt the best part of 90 meters at 45 degrees.
Jeff … we,ve got lots of them too 4x4 Isuzu,s the oldest being 2004 I liked the older ones could,nt break them and they did,nt have many boundaries the littler cat 7,s are ok too but how about this one
I can see that in Arnotts colours complete with the parrot. I used to paint a lot of trucks for them in the 90’s when I was working at Turckcraft up at Warragamba.
Jelliot:
Nice, looks like about an 85/ 86 model. About 90 ton by the look of those pipes if they were steel.
Jeff……
Pretty close Jeff it had a K19 ■■■■■■■ great engine and I just forget the weight but I was heavy on the lead trailer so you would be about right they are steel and were for a subsea pipeline.
I’ve done a few loads of 18" steel pipe in my time Dave. It was usually about 26 ton for a load on a trailer with a dolly 40ish ton for truck trailer and load. We also used to run 18" plastic agg pipe but that was piled up to 4.3 meters.
