Pets of TRUCKNETUK, Lets see them

Some people choose not to, or are biologically unable to, become parents.
So yes, there is some “substitutution” of one object of affection for another.
I’m a cat-owning parent of two children, I used to be a cat owning non-parent, so I see both sides of the coin.

People choose to spend their own money how they like, £10k may seem extreme to one person, but paying up to £3k for a football season ticket (Fulham, 2023 season) seems equally extreme.

To say nothing of those guys who shell out hundreds or even thousands to bling up “their” truck, which isn’t “their’s” at all, it belongs to the operator and they are just one who drives it

I get your point, but I think your analogies are a bit like comparing apples to oranges.
The guy who is the football fanatic it’s his social life and his hobby.
The guy who spends thousands on somebody elses truck is just an idiot.:joy:

People who think of their cats as children have some sort of psychologial problem I would go as far to say, ok maybe a harmless one, but nevertheless I reckon the cap fits.
I had a dog when I was first married with no kids,.I never once considered it or treat it in the same way as a child.

Being a pet owner who loves his pet is one thing, having a pet as a child substitute and actually thinking of them as children is just plain weird.
There is an old dear in my home city who wheels 2 cats around in a pram pushcair,I kid you not.

After 51 years of owning cats we’ve seen countless pass away over the years, It never gets any easier either as time goes by to lose a cherished pet, I think these three cats we have now will be our last family pets as we’re getting on now.

Depends, if he’s the only one who drives it, it not that far removed from making a rented house a home.

And the guy who comes home after a long day at work to a house, which would be devoid of life if it weren’t for his pet waiting to greet him, will be as much, if not more, happy than the guy who gets a kick from watching men in short trousers run around on a field chasing a leather spheroid (I’m no fan of football, so that for me would be a form of torture).

It’s “horses for courses” and one does not automatically trump another, it’s whatever makes that particular person happy. The real value of money is not the money in itself, it’s what you exchange the money for, to make your life the way you want it to be.

I’m away all week but Trixie will greet me the same way even if I’d just been down the shops
Watch any wild life program and when a pack member comes back they’re greeted by the other
“A home with out a pet is just a house “
I’m sure my mum (77)would be in a far worse mental state if we didn’t have the dog to keep her company in the day time

Yeah I know, there is nothing wrong with having a pet, especially so if you live on your own as you say…I certainly aint saying there is.
It’s when you start thinking of them as children and treating them as humans, instead of treating them as an animal in a kind way is when it gets a bit ‘unhealthy’ for want of a better word.
That’s my point.
I can see I’m in a minority here with my views.

Nah, I think I was right first time.
We have a bloke who has spent not hundreds but thousands on crap on his truck, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
He dare not tell his wife, …he could take his family on a luxury cruise, or buy his wife a car instead for instance.

I’m assuming his main reason for working is to provide for his family, which kinda makes a mockery of it.

If your Mrs came home and said, …
‘We could do with our office being carpeted and decorated, I’m going to draw out a few grand to pay for it’ :flushed:
You would presumably think she had lost her mind, so what would that guy’s Mrs say do you reckon?
I get it buying in cab home comfort essentials, kettle, microwave, fridge, tv etc…but 'kin light bars, overly expensive spotlamps etc, which ups the co.profile at no expense to them?
Nah, like I said …idiots.
Each to his own, but it takes all sorts.

You usually are Rob

Yeah, some of that is OTT and idiotic, it doesn’t seem to happen here. Just driver convenience type gear, microwave, TV, fridge and the like, if it’s not provided.

Further to what I was saying…
Me and wife were walking around Whitby earlier, I thought I’d seen everything…but no,.saw not one, but numerous examples of these.:flushed: whilst sat in the sun enjoying a cold pint of Lager.

Prams for dogs ffs…and apparentlly this is ‘normal’ behaviour…nah.

Sorry but these people should be certified.
Anyone brave enough to admit to having one?
