Another name to add to the growing list of idiots.
It makes me squirm that these buggers don’t even bother to build their part up, back in the day I’d be 500 posts up before I got folks to join a Ponzi scheme.
tachograph:
I probably phrased that badly, i know blue badge holders legally have to park responsibly but there are a few who seem to think they can park anywhere they like.
You either phrased it badly or your attitude toward us disabled folk isn’t yet fully developed.
We park where we need to. If you have a problem with that then you need to re-visit the moral standards that your parents tried to instill in you.
I picked on your post 'cos I think both of us know that this is yet another troll post that TNUK seems to tolerate on the basis that any traffic is better than no traffic. It wouldn’t surprise me if one of the ‘so called’ mods around here actually invented it !

I don’t hate you . . . I pity you.
Troll post to raise page hits, if that the excuse for everything around here these days
I was going to reply to your post but you know what, I’m not even going to give it that much credit
A definite no from me, after a serious spinal problem last summer and spending 6 months in hospital i now spend most of my time in a wheelchair and the blue badge that I have recently received is invaluable. Being an ex driver now means I have a good idea of what is sensible and what is not with regard to parking on a double yellows but unfortunately there will always be idiots that just abandon there motor anywhere and not just blue badge holders, but to suggest a total ban is just moronic. Just last week my wife had to park on double yellows outside our health centre where i had an appointment, the reason, a delivery truck was blocking access to several disabled bays.
I go shopping on Saturday, I notice all the disabled bays have nice new cars parked in them, with an overweight person sat in the driver’s seat smoking away, sipping a Costa, back comes his other half pushing a fully laden trolley…
People with a genuine disability seem to try and get on, and continue, and don’t want to be seen as spongers…

I’m a blue badge holder with good reason and it really does my head in to see the abuse of the system . Idle young women get grandad to take them to the shops , park in disabled bays while they shop and grandad sits in the car until they get back . I’ve threatened to report them more than once . The nice new cars are motability cars , they get a set grant and can update the car by paying the balance .
I will not sign the petition as the rules for the use of blue badges do not allow the holder to cause an obstruction so the petition really has no point. Also you must be aware the having a blue badge does not allow parking on all double yellow lines, in many places there are also yellow markings on the kerb, usually in places where an obstruction would be caused, where the lines on the kerb are present disabled badge holders cannot park there.
If a blue badge hold is causing an obstruction they should be prosecuted for that.
A better petition I might sign is to stop idiotic parents parking badly outside schools and driving their fat overweight kids 200 yards to school instead of making them walk and walking with them.
5 very sad people to have signed a pathetic petition.
Sometimes led badge holders park badly and some abuse the system but no more than any other driving demographic.
And coming from binmen that drive every few yards blocking the streets to save the workers moving bins more than a few feet.
Back in the olden days they had to carry dustbins to the refuse truck which were heavy, now they wheel them and still can’t stop in a space between cars and bring enough bins to the truck until they can get to a new safe place to stop. But it’s OK for them as they are emptying our bins for us so they can be as inconsiderate as they like but not for blue badge holders.
Mods I ticked no in the poll when I should have ticked yes. I thought that poll was about the petition not asking should they e slowed to park on double yellows. I imagine quite a few have done the same as me. Change my vote if possible please if you see this message.
So, I gather that the majority would oppose a ban on blue badges… that’s great, I can’t see why a minute or 2 delay would really affect a able bodied person … where as a disabled person by walking an extra 100 yards could suffer pain for the rest of the day … maybe we should ban dustcart during rush hour and before 8am. … oh if you can’t reverse a dust cart your not a real driver.

I’ll vote for that, the biffa truck that comes to the nursing home next door to me pulls up at 4:30 in a morning to empty a dozen bins, making enough noise to wake the neighbours

Phone the council and report it as a noise nusicence and they will have to change the service times to after 7am, I know I used to drive a dustcart and I was covering someone’s round so I follows the run sheet and second or third job was a filling station in a residential area. I backs up without the bleepers on at about 4:15 quiet as a mouse I even tried to be quiet with pulling the bin.
I put the bin on the lift in quiet mode(there is such a thing) and tipped the cardboard into the hopper (I cancelled the cycle to keep the noise down) and out of the blue the neighbour came out of the confinifers and started to rant that I had woke him up and it happened every week, bugger he made me jump!
He complained to the office ( not sure how he got the number cough ) and we had to service that site in the afternoon when it was full of cars and pedestrians but he got a great sleep.
On the flip side when I was on the traffic desk we had a woman ring in to complain that we were emptying a bin in the town centre at 6:30am and as she had just moved to the area it was keeping her awake, no rpobelem says I so off I went to investigate with the driver but it turned out that it was the only time we could get access to this site round the back of the shops due to cars being parked, I rang the woman back and had a chat after I had spoken to the council to make them aware of the complaint and my findings.
They agreed with me as they had a job near to it and had the same complaint and investigation plus out come, so I had email proof from the council to say we could still do the job well she kept ringing weekly same time same moan.
It turned out she didn’t work and she was sleep deprived and I was threatened with action from the council until I reported her to the council. Oh happy days.
It’s not the council bin collection, it’s the business collection of waste from the nursing home next door. Whom I have spoken to regarding the noise, but their response so far is that they’ll email head Office who will contact biffa. In other words they’re trying to fob me off

Doesn’t matter who runs the service (or who they are running it for). Local council is the enforcement agency and they are duty bound to deal with it.

It may be a commercial collection but they have to adhere to the time restrictions, PM me as to what part of the country you live in and I will see where you need to complain to.
