They had lots of owner drivers , so different motors . In the early days thames traders abounded but the rates were rubbish so bigger lorries came along for the tonnage . Allinsons were to the quarry job what Slaters were to the coal job . Dave

Chatted with Robert today at the Cromford rally and he is doing OK, working 25 hour days 9 days a week juggling his work and Mr Shiptons but looks just the same as he always has… Both his classic trucks are off the road at present though.

The B.J Waters ERF is owned by our club secretary, it was ex Knight Brothers of Rowsley and has a 6LW fitted for drawbar work. Must be an old pic, possibly taken at Chatsworth House, as it has had an accomodation box fitted for as long as I can remember?

That would have been the preparation for building the bridge across to the then new quarry (Old Moor) . Old moor quarry is now a huge place , all the stone comes out of there now . Dave
