Hi Dean, The Volvo with the EXEL tanker trailer has a Belfast number plate,
and a Scottish " Saltire " flag on the radiator grill, Perhaps Harvey who lives
near Stranraer may recognise it. Not heard from Harvey for a while.

Morning Dean,

Van Elle based in Nottinghamshire, hit hard by the demise of Carillion to the tune of £1.6M I believe, also some shady director dealings according to the media.

David

Rayven were/are Halesowen based, a good bunch of lads and tidy vehicles. We used to encounter them a lot around the West Midlands, don’t know if they are still active though?

Pete.

Hi Dean, I think that AAG Distribution may be from somewhere in Cornwall.
I used to see them very often on the M5 and A30 during my time running to
Redruth between 1995 and 2010. Cheers, Click picture for better image.

Cheers, Ray Smyth.

AAG.JPG

In that tipper test I’m not sure how they got the Tare weight of the Sed Ak that low when fitted with a ■■■■■■■ engine? Ours with a similar Cravens body but Fuller box and Gardner engines were a lot heavier.

Kev Castle had a few trucks on the Tarmac scheme in Bayston Hill quarry near Shrewsbury and occasionally used to do nights out of our quarry in Derbyshire. I believe his father in law was John Bolas who was in charge of Tarmac’s transport, I think that Kevin has passed away now though?

Pete.

I’m sure AAG was a shortened name for A A Griggs
Cheers Gary

Hi Ray & Gaz
AA Griggs were the “in house” owned hauliers for David S Smith the big Packaging Group. We used to deliver 23 ton loads of reels from East Lancs Mill to a David S. Plant near Sawston and we got on well with this Plant so they started loading our motors back to the N. West but we had to invoice AA Griggs for the loads. Cheers Dennis.
