Hi Dean, I THINK that McPhillips were from Wellington, Shropshire, but I could be wrong? I’m sure I took some tarmac to their yard a couple of times but it was a very long time ago!

Nice to see Hoveringham as well, I did the occasional back load from their gravel pit at Hoveringham village itself. Locally they had Dene quarry at Cromford in Derbyshire, and another at Bradwell, and one of my neighbours drove for them until Tarmac took them over. Owned by Needlers, the confectioners, at one time.

Pete.

Morning Dean,
James Rollinson are from Wellington, pic taken in Craven Arms!

Hi Dean, more great period tipper stuff.I nearly missed the Drinkwater driving school ad below the earlier Wilcox tipper body ad.They ran a fleet of white D series Fords. Must have been a rude awakening for the newly qualified driver to go from the D series to a crash box LAD Albion or a S39 Foden 12 speed.

As you can imagine I was well pleased and that spot in the grass by the turning for Ross became one of my favourite spots to take photos!!! The fact that there was a rather nice bakery in Ross had very little to do with it!!!

This must have passed by whilst you were in the bakery, Paul!
