H Young Transport from Burton on Trent - established in 1966

Whoa there Paul I think H.Young transport were based in Chicken Hall lane, Eastleigh near Southampton unless this is a different company, it was started by Jock Young a Scotsman and they had a depot in Scotland, think he had a Mercedes SL sportscar with the registration number HY6000 IIRC and he lived in Bursledon on the main A27 next to the telephone exchange and I believe his daughter still reside there, of course I may be barking up the wrong tree but someone will know for sure, cheers Buzzer

tribsa:
Hi Deran Paul Mark & John

The company from Stoneham was R C Smith they had a lot of Fords as well .

Well done that man for remembering that name, I knew there trucks always had just 3 letters on them and now I know the name it was R.C.S and I did ask Horry as he has a memory like an ephelump but he could not remember either, cheers Rich & thanks Buzzer

Hi Dean
re Drinkwaters, when they first joined with Sabeys both fleets were blue, then when Attwoods took over DS they changed the livery to Green, which was the original colour Drinkwaters were, when they loaned their fleet for the film Hell Drivers 1957 or a brief glimpse in the film the Fast Lady back in the early sixties.
Keep up the great work, this helps with the lockdown no end.

Hi all Wynnstay bought out Jeary’s who always had an office in the old Salisbury cattle market which is now a supermarket, I buy most of my feed etc from them today as they deliver 3 times a week to my area, the main base is in Calne Wiltshire but have a store at Old Sarum as well. They stock most anything you want for the farm and they are still entered in my mobile as Jeary’s, Cheers Buzzer.
