Hi new here! really enjoyed looking through this entire thread, some great pictures and info here.

Myself I’m trying to track down a small haulage company that operated in the mid to late 1970’s called Teesway or Tees-Way transport from Gainford near Darlington. They had a handful of blue scania’s. My dad drove for them around this time but sure they went bust! So probably not on the road for long. I was hoping to find a picture by chance on here. But could be long lost company well forgotten about

Thanks Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,I don’t know the company you mentioned but A E Evans,a tanker firm from Sheffield and Barking had two drivers who lived in and were based in Gainford,George Hunt and Reg Martin, both had AEC Mammoth Majors. I think one of them worked for another Gainford based company so could have been Teesway - Tees-Way.

That weaver F88 was only sold about 2 years ago. I think he had a F89 rotting away as well that
was sold. :imp:

Hi all. Dean and Paul, well done for reaching and now passing the 200 page mark. Sorry for being a little late to the party.
Back a few pages is a red ERF you asked about, I believe it was J.M.Watkins from Abergavenny. The Roadtrain of Lucas may of operated out of Girling’s in Pontypool. Weren’t they the same company at one time?
Back in 1984 Ware Transport (Birmingham) had a contract running out of Girling’s Pontypool delivering their products to Ford’s at Langley, Dagenham, Basildon and South Ockedon. A night trunk would run out of Feltham with empty stillages about6.00pm and deliver Langley on the way back. The day shift 4.00 am would do the rest of the deliveries. I used to do the day run when its regular driver was off sick or on holiday. A nice 2800 Daf ran both trips. You could go through the City at that time, great at night but coming back was another story!
Dean, on the other side of the pond I saw a lot of those old cab-over’s in the late 80s and early 90s. They were antiquated to say the least. European motors were 10/15 years ahead of them in every aspect, that’s including British built marques.
Thanks for your hard work you put into this site.

Regards Paul

Hi Gary,
I think you must be refering to the Liverpool office, run seperatley from Cairnryan. ( I could be wrong but dont recognise the names ) cheers, Harvey

Hello Dean, I should be sad, but had to laugh when I saw this picture, remember John quite well.
I can see him stood by the driver, looking at this motor, saying " I will pop another tank on it for you" dont worry, you will be back before dark. Harvey
