Hi Dean, The bus manufacturer is Metro-Cammell-Weymann, who I believe were at Washwood Heath in Birmingham. MCW were a major bus body builder,
usually building bodywork on to chassis from Leyland, AEC, Guy, Daimler, etc. In the 1970s, MCW built a large number of Metro-Scania complete buses,
for Liverpool, London, and Manchester, double deckers and single deckers. The complete engine, transmission, and front and back wheels were sent over
from Sweden in a very short wheelbase chassis form, and then separated, and installed in to the body work to form a complete bus. The Leyland PD3 bus
on the left in the picture is fitted with a 72 seat MCW body, the Bristol VRL has a coach body by Eastern Coach Works of Lowestoft…ECW. I know Trucknet
is not a Bus Forum, but at least it answers Deans question. Regards, Ray Smyth.
I also think it could be a Cadbury Foden.
James Nuttall of Rochdale used to have a contract with Cadburys
They ran a few refrigerated trailers on the job and had these two trailers and tractor units painted up in contract livery. During 1995/6 James Nuttall (Transport) Ltd of Rochdale introduced these 12 ■■■■■■■ powered ERF EC14 6x2 tractor units into their fleet. The picture above, taken in the depot at Rochdale in 1996, shows 12 ERF EC14 6x2 tractor units and trailers lined up for a photo shoot.
The first three in the line up are coupled to reefers, used on the Cadbury contract.
Come to think of it Dean i haven’t seen any of Jimmy Nuttalls motors in this thread yet which is quite surprising.

I did know of a 1967 /1968 Bedford KM that was a 4 wheeler conversion to a 6 wheeler that had a i think a YORK 3rd axle conversion where the 3rd axle would lift a little for load transfer for more traction but did not lift clear for empty running. I thought Reviers were either single drive or double drive from the factoryI’m almost certain I’ll come unstuck here but I only remember 86s with axle lift
Consider yourself unstuck Coomsey , about 1968 I drove an 8 wheel lightweight Scammel , single drive with lift axle . I was doing 2 trips a day over the Cat and Fiddle and the lift axle was useless , the back end swung all over the place on all those bends and corners coming back empty . Dave
I knew from the start I’d get nailed Dave. I only recall 86s don’t remember Scania but seem to think there wasn’t many rigids in the 70s. So who was first us or Nordics? A pic of the Scammel would be good. Cheers Paul
Not seen many Calor ERF’s in that livery did they change it to red about that time?
I know one thing though Calor had plenty of ERF’s in their huge fleet over the years.

Those ERF’s look fantastic. I don’t remember ever seeing them on the road. Has anybody noticed the first one in the line up has a different roof and air kit? Olympic? Wonder why one was spec’d different to the rest.

Hydrogen gas carrier Mammoth Major 6, a few of these were based at Weston on the Green, which was / is a RAF weather forecasting station. I believe that these became the last AECs in service with the RAF, apart from the mysterious nuclear warhead carriers, which were rumoured to still exist, “mothballed” at a certain RAF base.
Also, you said they are 4X2’s but the first one looks like a 6X2 to me? Sorry for being pedantic. [emoji53]

Good stuff Paul, see above answer about Cadburys/Hoover. Nuttall rings a bell i may have something on them.
I dont know if this Atki is a Ridham motor on hire to Nuttall’s or the other way around ■■

You’re right: the first one has the Olympic cab. Robert
I’d love to drive an ec14 even now. I drove a few ec11’s back in the day and always liked them, especially the sound of the ■■■■■■■■ A ■■■■■■■ powered Foden 8 wheeler with a stack came past me the other day, sounded superb!

The 2nd photo looks like a BRS contract unit with RLC fleet no. on the door. I know they had a Cadburys contract for a while so may have come back to cover the Hoover contract? Similar fleet no. on the Scania
