Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 2)

Used to go past this place quite often. RN6 near Creches sur Saone. Loads of SMs sat there. Not in good nick though it would seem. Google Maps

Whats the two (what looks like saucepans) . . oil bath air filters? . . . probably posted this in the wrong place

If you mean the two on the top of the Leyland 500, yes they were oil bath filters.

A nice surprize

ADR sent me this bring back some memories for you Oily

Hello I’m new here am I posting in the right place? Thanks

Welcome aboared, but to answer your question, depends what you want to say.

Shields Road, 8th July 1972. The odd looking bus is one of two experiements by Northern to convert rear ended buses to OMO (One Man Operation) This was a Leyland PD3, orginally registered as NNL49 in 1958. In April 1972, it was rebuilt as fleetnumber 3000 and re-registered as MCN30K. The Tynesider as it became known as, and its sister the Wearsider, had a short life span, ending up working staff shuttles before both were withdrawn in 1978. The Wearsider ended up on the scrap heap, however the Tynesider lives on in preservation

My son, who is a teacher in Macao, took some of his students on a rock climbing, trekking, swimming and kayaking expedition to the interior, something which he needed a visa for.
He snapped this outside their hotel and I wondered if anyone knows what it is. He just entitled it ‘old truck’ and old it maybe, but it appears to be still earning a crust to me.

Hi thanks for replying, I wanted to ask if anyone knew my dad ,he drove for shell mex and BP and died at work in 1973, I think the accident was in Enfield, his name was Mick Sturgess

I can’t help with that, but it sounds like such a distinct tragedy that I would be surprised if nobody else remembers it, and him. Best of luck.

Is that Stiller wagon the same Stillers that were always so smart in their blue and gold livery from the NE?
The one that Herr Stiller built from scratch after he finished being a prisoner of war?
If so, must say I don’t like the transformation. :slightly_frowning_face:

It’s his son-now based in Aycliffe.

Should I repost somewhere else ?
