Interesting! I didn’t know truck bodies had been fitted on Bedford VAL chassis! Very little protection for the driver in case of accident…

Here are some photographs I took around Kaikoura, South Island NZ while driving up State Highway 1 from Christchurch to Blenheim while on holiday in 2007. What a shame this beautiful coastline has been disrupted and isolated by landslides caused by the recent earthquakes.
Here are a few more photos taken on State Highway 1 between Christchurch and Blenheim in March 2007. Both road and adjoining railway is currently blocked by massive landslides cutting off Kaikoura from both the north and the south. Hard to imagine such devastation along such a lovely coastline and major highway.
Spare a thought for the NZ truckers and inhabitants that depend on them for supplies along this isolated coastline.
Cheers Leyland 600

I was in the Christchurch / Blenheim area in 2013 not long after the last major quake and this is some of the damage done to the centre of Christchurch ands how the buildings were replaced by temporary containers. Unfortunately there were about 130 deaths.
Apologies for going off thread.

These were taken around the Blenheim / Highway 1 area in 2013.
The last two are Blenheim Air Museum which is next door to the airport. It is owned by Peter Jackson who directed the Hobbit films. He must have spent millions on the development. Brand new building with life size WW1 static displays. Next door to that is a motor museum owned by a guy who has two or three vineyards in the area. it is full of 1960’s - 70’s cars some American but most of British origin and either exported to the Southern Hemisphere or built under licence there.
My good lady and I are going back there next Feb !!
