Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Buzzer:
Hi all picked up my new horsebox yesterday from Tristar in Ffarmers near Lampeter, it is an ex Fagan & Whaley tautliner and has been well looked after considering its 15 years old. Nearly forgot what it’s like driving an LGV as have had 7 1/2 tonners for the last three years but it soon comes back to you, Buzzer.

Nice one Buzzer, good on you, safe driving.

A few Traders

1963 5 ton Trader with Boalloy Tipping Body.jpg

That first Trader…is that a Mk1 Cortina grille on there?

I can confirm that it is indeed a Cortina grille. Quite a popular go-faster modification in it’s time, similar to the chrome hub cap addition to Mk11 Atkis, giving an extra five mph on top speed.

Yes it was.Doug Allen put them on most of their Traders including the K-Series.They named some of them after the Isle of Man ferries as they were into motorbike racing and apart from riding in the T.T. the family had some veteran motor bikes they went over with. They also put mascots on a lot of the lorries too.
