Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

Hi, went to a local show this weekend consisting mostly of vintage military trucks.

Some corkers there; Leyland, AEC and Scammell ‘coffee pot.’

Here are 2 of mine in a similar vein - the Scammell was taken at Bressingham Steam Museum in July 1977 (yes that’s me many stones and hair ago  )

The American half track was snapped in Camden NJ summer 2011

Hi all, had this as a e-mail thought i would share it Ade

THIS IS PRICELESS………………

Why did no one mention the existence of pre-war colour film until recently? This colour footage of 1920’s London was shot by an early British pioneer of film named Claude Frisse-Greene, who made a series of travelogues using the colour process his father William — a cinematographer — was experimenting with.

It’s a strange feeling watching stuff from this long ago in colour."

Cheers lurpak(Ade) very interesting mostly AEC and I read somewhere that the London General Omnibus Company had some part in the origins of AEC.
Here’s a pic from 1927 with a Dennis of the LGOBC.

Cheers to to DearBoy and Gardner 120 a fine input there

Since the new server, I’ve also had problems, so tried a few different solutions, my main browser is Internet Explorer10 and I find that downsizing the images gets round the problem. I also run Google Chrome browser which when uploading automatically reduces the image size.
Anyone choosing to download Chrome should be aware of source as it can come packaged with a rogue Search Engine called deltasearch, when using Chrome and opening a second tab the rogue is embedded and applies itself, giving you options which appear to be what you are looking for or connected, these websites have adverts which fund the “rogue”. It is not illegal, not a virus, will not harm your pc etc. just takes you down a blind alley.
I happily use Chrome, I find it much quicker than IE10 and especially when uploading to flickr, I avoid second tabbing.

Cheers cattle wagon man for the Fagan and Whalley Albion and the other pic

Back to the Hebrides, now across The Minch from Skye and in a rainy Stornoway on a Sunday where the Sabbath is strictly observed, hence quite a few wagons parked up.

D R Macleod are the main haulage people on the islands, so apologies if I bore you with too many of them, another four with more to come another day.

Back to 1969 and my Dad worked at the Dunlop in Coventry - I was 5 and fascinated with Guy Warriors and their badge (Red Indian Head dress etc)

So one evening, he was on nights and spotted the old wagon that ran down to Heathrow on spares every evening - not only did he take the photo but also pinched the steering wheel centre :open_mouth: for his little lad - the driver must have wondered where the hell that ever went and I still have it to this day … He’s not a bad old Dad
