Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

This picture appears to be the Liverpool side of the Mersey Tunnel, at a busy time of the morning.
There is just one line of traffic entering the tunnel, and three traffic lines exiting the tunnel.
From about 4pm in the afternoon, the busy tunnel traffic would be three lanes toward Birkenhead,
and 1 lane of traffic returning to Liverpool. The cars are a Morris Minor, a Ford Prefect, and a Ford
Popular. The Leyland Comet artic tanker is from an oil company called LOBITOS.

Ray.

Mr Buzzer asked “what is it”?

A Bugatti ■■

That thing is no more a Bugatti than I am.

It’s a Teal kit car, they are styled to look vaguely like a pre-war Bugatti but it’s a kit using Morris Marina mechanicals.

Close enough and equally reliable.

And much, much cheaper.

Latest development David, apparently there was a Crossley working Cairns ~Chilligo. Were you on the Tableland in the 1920s? I suspect not.

Do either of these look like the elusive RM? There seems to be virtually nothing recorded about the Crossley.

Well who would have thought it, a rail driver who lost his way at Mareeba. :open_mouth:
But no, not one of those, the one I mounted was forward control and I entered at the front of the body and paid the driver over the bonnet, just as in any other bus of the era. He did look a bit silly sitting there with 3 pedals, long gear lever and handbrake, but no steering wheel to rest his hands on.

Thanks to Buzzer, Ray Smyth, Star down under, toshboy and WaggerWagger888 for the photos
WaggerWagger888 I note the Autocar Transporter has an Oxford City FC reg this would have a connection with their takeover of B J Henry in the late '60s.

I don,t know about the reg. but A.T.L. did take over Henry,s and a few other companies around the country about that time until it folded in the 1990,s
happy days.

Climb up the tyres of course.

In the Mersey tunnel pic, I think there’s an Armstrong Siddely there too.

PROPER SPREAD AXLE & BE CAREFULL NOT TO DROP OUT OTHER THAN INTENDED

In my opinion the healthiest public toilets available, providing they were kept clean, just like any other. Medically also the best setup of the body, there is far less bowel cancer in Africa than in the European world, probably as a result. The only thing you have to be wary of is avoiding wet feet at flushing time.

Does anyone remember the ones at Pop’s in Concorezzo? There was a duckboard to place over the bowl and a shower above so that you could do all your ablutions in the same visit.
