Interesting Bridge Buzzer I believe that bridge is in the eastern states possible Katherine Spardo MRM and SDU may know it but here in WA the mighty Fitzroy river burst its banks and risen 2 metres above any other time at its peak in one day the flow measured 20 years of water used in Perth.
The main bridge at Fitzroy Crossing failed the test plus many kilometres of highway and the top end of West Australia is totally cut off by road at this time.

Doesnât ring a bell with me Dig, the only one I remember was built in a long curve, and was told that 2 trains had collided on it presumably because both ends could not be seen from each other. But I donât remember where it was. The river crossings I remember involved driving through.
That Fitzroy Crossing bridge looks serious. Did it collapse under a vehicle or was it pressure of water on the supports?
Canât say I recognise the bridge, but I could have crossed it many times, just never seen it from that angle.
David, the Fitzroy bridge failed from the flooding, the roads were well and truly closed.

I am a big fan of the Scottish comedy âStill Gameâ and in a recently repeated episode a man too mean to buy stamps decided he would deliver all his wifeâs many Christmas cards himself. Clearly knackered he arrived back in the pub and got some advice from a postie as to how the they managed to do it without suffering like that. We were then treated to the sight of them emptying his bag of cards into the river.
How we laughed at the absurdity of it all, and then I saw that PO Austin tipper, and began to wonder.

I was thinking possibly it was the Katherine bridge.

You could be right, but if it is, the photo must have been taken from the old railway bridge I think, which looks like being a walking/cycling path now.
Which begs the question, if that was the âoldâ railway, it canât have been in existence that long as it wasnât there in my time. Also, now the the line goes right through to Darwin, where is the modern one?

Could be Ashburton or Cane Rivers, too.

Bloody hell mate, set me on a right course there. Searched all around the town but couldnât see it, so I went up to Darwin, found the railway and followed it all the way down to Katherine.
So for anyone who wants to get on the Ghan, it is 5 kms south of town on the Vic Highway.
