Bloody ridiculous overhang on that last picture! I’d much sooner have the trailer wheels where they’re supposed to be.

Yes, you’d have to be very careful turning left from the inside lane at the lights, wouldn’t you? :unamused:

Tail swing or cut in can’t have it both ways

Those SPT Leylands supplied Templeborough steel mill with limestone from Buxton, they didn’t tip as they had an inverted ‘V’ inside the body and the load discharged through the side doors. They were hoisted ‘airborne’ at the mill on a ramp similar to the sugar beet factories.

Cut in for me, every time, at least you can see it and act with precision.

Position of rear bogie affects weight distribution too, of course.

Yes but at the case in point, furniture, hardly a factor.

Furniture? Probably correct.
I do remember (I think) Milt (?) Warren doing some furniture work. Saw one of his (maroon with yellow stripe) Sed-Atks with a 40ft box trailer, with a single axle, right on the back. I`ll bet that cut in like a !!!

Thanks to star down under, Ray Smyth and Buzzer for the photos    also ParkRoyal2100 for the link

That shot of Pollocks Atki looks like it’s leaving the Hartlepool Headland Steetley plant?
British Steel also had a facility through that arch, it was a bit of a nightmare getting through at times. I was a regular there in the seventies, any lapse in concentration and a mirror was wrecked. In later years we had to use another entrance as more modern motors with bigger cabs and mirrors couldn’t get through. Regards Kev.

Same here Spardo. If deliveries in small places etc are needed, then a shorter trailer should be used like the ones Tesco uses.

Depends, flat packed or assembled. The former can quite easily see max weights.

Better get a 3rd axle then. :unamused:
