Buzzer:
Bit late today after our 50th party bash, Buzzer

Lovely picture of Newton Abbot Market, still hanging on in there, just!
Several names I knew and respected, all long departed now:
George Howard’s Transport from Christow, White and Goodman from Tavistock, owned by Harold White, used to build their own bodies, Frank Langford’s Exeter Cattle Transport taken over by Stuarts when Frank retired, could be a BMC of Mannings of Dawlish, run by Theo Manning, they also built cattle boxes. Looks like a BMC J2 from Des Waldron in Lustleigh, plus some I cannot identify, could be Efford’s Transport from Moreleigh, L Walke from South Brent, perhaps Edworthy’s of Bow or any of several others of the era, Gills of Chudleigh, Stan Smerdon from Ashburton, R Lewis from South Brent or R Pring from Plympton, the only name still in livestock haulage these days is L Walke.

Who will tell more aboout these two steam trucks, obviously carrying Whisky casks?

Sundays load, Buzzer

A few more, Buzzer

First one is a Foden (leading the was as usual! ) and following it is a Sentinel. Sentinel always spelt ‘Waggon’ with two ‘G’'s instead of wagon.

Pete.

Good load there Dan, was speaking to the guy who sold you the Pel-Job earlier.

:open_mouth: ,About diggers hopefully

Haha. He’s a handy bloke to know, I know what you’re getting at though! He sorted me a full set of pins and bushes for my Kubota.

J.F.G:
Another Livestock truck to add Buzzer,

It be my cousin and my uncle, the 141 came from Italy as 6 wheeler rigid rhd from new though ,they made it in to a unit .

Well Dan, they have done a excellent job. Being a 6x2 motor probley improved the ride. I had a 111, very reliable but a rough ride. I not going to mention about the scania elbow when changing gear, but the old girl paid for it’s self over and over again. Would have killed for a V8, but not the fuel bills.

Todays show, Buzzer

The Glenlivet steamers posted by Froggy55 , back in the '40s I had two uncles work in the Dufftown area distilleries and at weddings christenings funerals etc the HP sauce bottles of neat spirit would be sparingly measured (it was potent stuff) and handed round.
Rome the City of Seven Hills and once upon a time Dufftown the Town of Seven Stills.

I always wondered with names like The ‘Wiltshire Flyer’ if it isn’t an invitation for the old bill or vosa to give them a tug.

Thanks! I just hope they didn’t use their valuable load as fuel…

Can you imagine a transport company being allowed to have a depot as close to houses as this photo without some sort of ruling about start and finish times.
