A 26 ton GVW DAF of BAKO North Western from Roman Way Industrial Estate, near Preston.
I saw it earlier today, 9/11/2020, delivering to a Nisa supermarket at Pemberton, Wigan.

Maycock Bros. from Lanchester Co. Durham, waiting to load at what looks like Raisby Quarry next to a Raisby Foden, probably an O/D.
Maycocks had a handful of tippers through the sixties but the numbers dwindled to eventually one by the time this photo would have been taken. I think they had an F7 after the 86.
The two brothers, Mick & Bob, double shifted, usually local quarry work daytime and then lime to the steelworks at Motherwell overnight.

OilyLooks like a big improvement! Why did it took so long to change the situation there?
Hi Patrick, Lot of wrangling over many years, probably spent more money on consultants than that cost A bridge across the valley was a consideration, the terrain and cost ruled that out. The attached link transport.gov.scot/media/35 … eport.pdfn
gives an insight into what was involved.
if that link doesn’t work try this

Earlier days of Downton tipping spuds at Fords Gloucester, all credit to SCP for the photo.
OilyEddie, This picture reminds me of a photo taken at Sandbach Services on the M6 Motorway
a few years ago. It showed a Downton curtain sided trailer and an Abbey tanker parked close
to each other, and because of the way they were lined up, the words from left to right showed
Downton Abbey, which at the time was regularly on the television. Cheers, Ray.
