I do agree at times could be quicker to go round the old way over barton bridge.
What puzzles me though. Your approaching from irlam. Direction You don’t know the area so rely on road signs.
Road sign says m60 towards Bolton m61 m66 etc left . Manchester airport m60 Stockport straight on. Taking you all through Trafford park to rejoin the m60 someware near Trafford centre via maybe 6 sets of lights and roundabouts. Surely be easier to direct all motorway traffic down the old a57 as only about 1 mile round a roundabout and on. Instead of messing around
Yes noticed that. It’s contrary to what your sat nav would tell you to do (both roads moving freely) if you wanted to go anti-clockwise m60.
That new bridge is handy if you need to get towards Irlam from Trafford Park at evening rush hour when the M60 clockwise is stacked. The other 21 hours of the day & if your going the other way it’s really not worth diverting off the beaten track, especially given you could get stuck for 15/20 mins if they lift it up.
I work on Trafford Park and have yet to use it.

Yep the main beneficiaries of the bridge are the residents of Irlam & Cadishead and ofc lightening the load on the 60 during peak.
New road though still doesn’t really ease the congestion from lrlam to the m60 during rush hours still a pain

I too find myself in this situation, everytime I go over Barton Bridge I look down in invy of the people using the bridge and shout out aloud, “I will use you one day my princess!”
