TheMissus:
Thanks Harry and muckles - I’ll be treading carefully! Two were broker trainers with recruitment agencies on the side which I think I’ll steer clear of anyway after reading the training threads.
Go directly to a reputable driving school, it will be far cheaper and they won’t make empty promises about finding you work which they will not deliver on.
Even as a newly qualified driver, you will find work. It will just be the dross that nobody else wants to do, and you will have to suffer it for a few months while you gain experience and work your way into a better job. I imagine most folk here would say much the same about their own early days as a driver.
No Problem TheMissus, and good luck with getting your licence, there is plenty of good advice on here especially in the Newbie section.
And when you get your licence, don’t just sign up with agencies, go and knock on doors, expect rejection, but if you’re in the right place at the right time you might get a decent full time job.
I was lucky with my first jobs, Harry they weren’t the best paid or the best trucks, but they were good family firms, that employed good bunch of lads who helped me a lot.
Thanks to both of you. Got a couple of decent local training firms lined up now to look at, fingers crossed!
Hopefully the OP Rattray is well on the way to his Class 1 too!
Hey again you lot… I’ve not checked in, in a while.
I’ve not got the big one on my licence yet, I think it will be post Christmas now in all honesty.
Would have bee good timing to get it beforehand with all the work going.
I won’t be listening or banking on gettin any kind of work instantly as soon as I’ve passed my test. But I’ll be out and about looking for some myself for sure.
