Now he’ll be on to say how ■■■■■■ up the vans are where he works. Even though he’s the only one who cares about them. Except rolling one doesn’t count does it?
Geoffo:
‘[zb] jong’ !! This just goes on & on… BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ !!!I have to admit though the ‘Eastern European’ drivers over here get paid a lot less than there Belgian counterparts. Plus the ‘Eastern europeans’ cause a lot more damage… FACT…
What a ridiculous statement !!! how could you say that? As Orys keeps sprouting all the east europeans are earning a fabulous wage and living like kings and in no way are they pinching our jobs or anything else for that matter. its a myth that loads of rumanian ■■■■■■ are stealing every thing they can lift, its the British and they just shift the blame …
Sorry I nodded off and was having an ‘Orys’ moment.
I’m glad the Orys is living in a area that meets his standard in the UK, by what I remember of the polish Gorbal type tenament blocks I think living in a cardboard box under the M8 would be a rise in standards. By jeez ! he’s now a bloody snob as well as an intellectual
A new ‘Polish’ chief officer has just joined my wee shippy and on his contract of employment it states that his wages will be paid at the rate of £750.00 per month LESS that the British mate got who has just gone home on leave. THAT IS CORRECT ORYS £750.00 LESS
Nah, course the poles won’t work for less
Geoffo:

Any source of that revelation?

Please provide me with quote where I said that ALL eastern Europeans are earning a fabulous wage etc… Because I can easily provide you with quotes even from this thread while I say something opposite.

Glasgow Gorbals tower block.
Koznanów in WrocÅ‚aw, considered (today) to be one of the worst concrete blocks estates in my native town, built about the same time…
Apart from the aestetic side, I can’t see much difference in standards…

That guy has to be some proper idiot if he agreed to such conditions… I hope you won’t get poisoned…
Nah, course the poles won’t work for less
Who said that? Because it was not me. I just said that most of Poles work for the same rate as locals in the same jobs (taking into consideration that wages went down since more workforce is available).
Learn to read Orys …I said he was the chief officer (pierwszy oficer) or 1st mate not the bloody cook, he don’t do cooking, we have another lad to do that and he is good as well, none of your smelly smoked meat, cheese and lousy cabbage soup. And he is not an idiot IMO, think he might need a wee bit more intelligence to be able to drive a ship than a clapped out ■■■■■■ van. But you will prove me wrong no doubt.
raymundo:

My mistake, obviously I lost the word when I was reading that. (see? It’s not hard to admit that you made a mistake, you should try one day).
And he is not an idiot IMO, think he might need a wee bit more intelligence to be able to drive a ship than a clapped out ■■■■■■ van. But you will prove me wrong no doubt.
Well, you drive a ship, I drive a sprinter van, I think that it is now obvious that there is no case to anwer
But I have one more question to you regarding the previous post:
raymundo:
By jeez ! he’s now a bloody snob
Actually that got me thinking. Ray, you seem to be wise guy and in your line of work I guess salaries are not bad, since there is 750 pounds to be kicked of them monthly…
Do you really think that makes me a snob that instead of living in some dirty quarter of the time, full of drunkards and agressive neds, littered with abandoned tesco shopping carts and broken bottles, I prefer to pay 100 per month extra to live in a leafy, quiet but vital neighbourhood full of nice shops, pubs and nice trimmed lawns and shrubberies?
And btw: this is a brill example how the public opinion like you is manipulated by media:
dailymail.co.uk/news/article … onomy.html
Let’s analyse that article:
“Figures show 45,000 Poles settled in the UK last year - the biggest rise since the financial crash”
The 45000 Poles who settled in the UK is not a rise. The rise was of about 6000 people that emigrated FROM Poland (not necesarly to UK).
Judging that the total number of people who left Poland last year is 60 000, we can say that about 3/4 of them go to UK, so if the growth was by 6000 people, we can say that in 2011 the yearly number of Poles comin here has grown by 4500. But the lead of the article is made to make the impression that this grown is ten times bigger. Off course they give the proper number later:
“About 45,000 people from the east European country were recorded as settling in Britain last year, despite the fact the UK is still in the grip of a recession”
but its the first impression that matters.
Source: emito.net/wiadomosci/anglia/ … 50120.html
Another example:
“Average earnings of £2,000 a month in the UK dwarfs the typical wage of £635 in Poland.”
.
The word “typical” is crucial here. Average earnings means, well, average from toilet cleaner to Richard Branson and other bilionairs. Typical is how much MOST of the people earn. These are two different values: average salary is calculated using this matematical tool: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Median
So comparing the two is like comparing Tesco and Asda and saying "Asda is cheaper, because you can buy potatoes at 99p per kilo, while in Tesco you have to pay 2.99 for a kilo of oranges. You just can’t compare two different things.
So if we want to compare average British wage with average Polish wage, it will be these 2000 GBP in UK vs around 800 in Poland (source: polskatimes.pl/artykul/49557 … ,id,t.html). Suddenly the difference is smaller, isn’t it?
Next place where you are being manipulated:
“One Polish woman, named only as Barbara, has lived in England for seven years and said her average monthly wage in her home country was just £153. She told the Telegraph: 'When I arrived in the UK I worked as a cleaner and I’m now director of the company.”
Wow, thats a real American dream UK has to be for Poles, she was a cleaner and now suddenly she is a director of the company, so it came to that Polish cleaner still jobs from British directors of the company!!!
But I read the interview with this women in original, I can’t find it, it was somewhere in gazeta.pl portal. She is a director of her own company, she cleans and has a couple of other ladies to help them. In that case, I am also a director of the company, as I am self-employed…
And so on. Obviously there is some truth in this article, as in the things you are talking, but my point is: “this things are not as big as you think”.
Orys give it a rest.
We don’t want to analyse the daily mail. The original points have long since been forgotten.
Go and theorise with you tutor. Leave us mere mortals to wallow in our blissful ignorance. Thankyou.
Orys, the female who’s a ‘director’ of a company employing the huge total of two other females cleaning■■?
Would that make her a ‘madam’ as she is the head old scrubber?
raymundo:

Ray, you are hitting the bottom. I prefered much more, when there was still some discussion possible with you, now you ingore completely what’s going on, and just look to the opportunity to show how much you despise Poles… You only achieve applause from these below you and I will propably get another couple of PM from other people who still read this, apologizing for your behaviour and assuring me that not all British truckers are your kind…

The problem is Carryfa…sorry I mean Orys is you annoy people so much with your high minded over long posts that they just retreat into their opinions even more. So quite apart from changing peoples opinions of the Polish I’d say the opposite is happening and you’re turning people against them. You need to calm down a bit old chap that’s all.

You are right about this people, who can still be visible in this thread. Nothing will change their minds, they know better.
Look for the pattern in this discussion: one of them asks me a smart-arse type question like “if you are so smart, tell me how is that…”
I then politely answering that question, providing the facts and everything, and they they don’t bother to read it, just take a grasp to see that I still did not decided to submit to their superior opinion and try to abuse me with some unrelated crap, or twist my words and try to slag me for some things that, unlike them, I never said (like “ALL the Poles this or that”) completely ignored the fact that I just replied to the question they themselves asked.
Then few of the guys supports these guys and short outburst of the closeminded biggotry can be seen, then the whole thing goes to the next stage “So orys, if you are so smart, tell me how…”
But I do know, that some people read this, I do get private messages and I know that for some people to see the other side of the coin is a valuable thing, even if they do not agree with me. So altough I mock some of this guys if I feel like that, I am writing all this stuff with these smart ones who read it in silence in mind.
So you are right when it comes to what can be seen in public, but (you have to believe me on that) there is much more going on “behind the scenes”.
But actually I can still follow your advice: see, I have all reasonable participants of that discussion “behind the scenes” now, so actually I can move to there(unless some myth will need to be busted somewhere on trucknet again, off course)
So thanks for the reading, and I think I need to clear my inbox (why do we have PM box limited to 350 messages only?)
(but I will still checking that thread to see if anything reasonable shows up).
OK…On a serious note…I am NOT and never have been anti -Polish. I have been there many times and enjoyed every single one of them. It’s the way you occasionally (saying this to keep sensible)and more often than not go on and on and on…With your stubborn, never give in, gotta have the last word attitude. As you so eloquently wrote. There are two sides of a coin. Why not flip one and see?

On a serious note: you (when you make a break from simply abusing me ) made sure, that I see your side of the coin. You support each other, and there is several hundreds of you, Britons on that forum. I am just the one guy, so I have to try harder to be seen…
And please note, it’s not true that I never give in, when raymundo (in very unpolite way) pointed out that I made a mistake while reading his post, I just confirmed he is right, and therefore ignored the whole bit about cuisine, as since I was not right, the kitchen is completely unlrealted to what we spoke about. So your comments about “never giving in” should be aimed at someone else here…
Really, I don’t expect you to change your mind of 180degree. Just stay open minded, fewer “ALL” and “EVERY” here, less “NEVER and ALWAYS” there, and there will be no need for me to try so hard.
So I hope no offence and altough we depart to our own sides each, we stay in good relations for other trucknet discussions
Have a nice day!
Orys,
I am now and never have been anti any one. In my line of work over the too many years I have had to work I have worked with Cape Verdes, Filipinos, Brits, Even Scots, Russians, Ukranians and all other sorts many among them many Polish. So after your last retort I explained this thread to our Chief and after asking a few questions of me he said and I quote ‘‘He needs to go home and seek medical help as he is seriously delusional’’
Make me chuckle that did.
Give it a rest pal, you are in my country, so respect our hospitality and behave by appreciating it. No way would I have the front to go to Poland and criticise the generosity shown by allowing me over the border.
Have to go now as I have an important meeting to attend to with either a Mr. White & Mackay and his colleague either Mr Famous Grouse or if the worse comes to the worse Mr Hortitsa (Ukranian to English translation of the name from the bottle of Vodka)

If you demanding me to deny obvious facts, I am sorry, but you are asking too much.
As for your friend, I also showed a bit of our conversation to my workmates today… They also had a good laugh… They were on my side though, maybe because none of us is paid 750 pounds less than other?

Have fun!
Obviously if you work for a tenner a day you cant afford to drop 750 per month. Just checked his SIGNED contract and he gets GBP per month (ie £3000 for a 30 day month which equates to a daily rate of £100) whereas the British mate was/and will be when he returns from of leave £125 per day which equals £3750. Work it out yourself you reckon it out your self as you are a clever fellow, allegedly !
Yes we are having fun, but I never knew we had a crew member who would wear a short mini skirt, knee length leather boots and a big chest enclosed in a yellow tee shirt … as I am the security officer for the ship that needs further investigation of a body search, which under the ISPS regulations by unilateral agreement I am allowed to do. Wahaaaaay, goodnight Trucknet … (but shall leave lappy running for when Orys returns with more inspiring news)

Ok, and you’re doing well with answers so far. What i wanna know is, if Poland is doing so well and we can see Greece and to a lesser extent Spain is not doing so well, infact something like a third of Greeks are living below the poverty level at the minute. How come we are not over run with Spaniards and Greeks? I’m not seeing any of them only Poles?!!!

Because the JOBSEEKERS ALOWANCE in this poor country that Greece is, is higher than WAGE OF MILIONS OF POLES. As calculated into Polish money.
GREECE:
- Minimum wage 3771 zł
- Average pension 2795 zł
- Jobseekers allowance 1720 zł
- free prescriptions for seniors
- state founded weekly holidays
- 15% of your wage bonus if you work on computer
- educative bonus - 5% of your wage for each year of higher education you completed
- foreign language bonus - 10% of your wage for each language
- marriage bonus - 10 % of your wage if you are maried
- christmas bonus - montly wage extra for Christmas, 50% of monthly wage extra for Easter…
This is harsh conditions that poor Greek in his bankrupt country has to face…
Meanwhile in Poland:
- Minimum wage 1386 zł
- Average pension 1770 zł
- Jobseekers alowance 742,1 zł
- Rocketing pharmaceutical prices
- Expensive holidays
- 150zł susbsidy if you need to wear glasses
- foreign language required to get virtually any job, no extra paid.
- some shopping vouchers as christmas bonus
And when Poles hear that THEY have to PAY money to Greeks to help them out, they just got mad and they slam the doors and go away from this country that can’t look after their own residents.
Compared to that Britain takes care of its residents pretty well… I guess that’s about it when it comes to comparing Poland and Greece…
Greeeks are moaning off course, because the current situation means to them, that their luxury lifestyle is ruined. Unlucky for them, they don’t have much Poles to blame them for it, so they blame Germans… But they won’t migrate en masse, if they can have around 350 pounds per month of jobseekers allowance while the living costs are only about 10% higher than in Poland… And they dont’ need to worry that when half of the state go for the dole, the state will go bankrupt, as, unlike in Britains and Polish case, they are in Eurozone, so Germans will do everything to bail them out. Some Poles live for 400 pounds per month and they manage to survive… So having 350 pounds + some extra cash-in-hand jobs is not so bad for Greeks.
source: przeglad-tygodnik.pl/pl/arty … urolandzie and some other articles on Greece I’ve been reading recently in paper magazines.
As for Spaniards - I do see plenty of Spanish-plated cars recently in Glasgow, on my housing estate there are two. When I’ve been to Brno this summer, I met some Spanish graduate, who was washing windows there… So I guess Spanish migration is about to start…
You have one huge chip on your shoulder Orys I’d like to educate you on the policies of the European Union, the British health and benefit system which is being milked by the influx of third world scroungers, and also my life as an immigrant in a country whose standards match up to expectations, but to be quite frank I can’t be arsed because without doubt you’d retort by trying to convince me that black is white and vice versa .
Keep banging your drum matey, with your attitude towards life your options are that limited
orys you and your friends could always move to greese and try milking there benefit system,
orys is a bit sensitive when any kind of negative comment re Eastern Europeans is perceived, but is an all round good guy. Anyhoo, not normally commenting in the Euro driving forum, I was searching the fora for anything Spanish related and this thread came up first, for even I have noticed a huge influx of young Spaniards this year (in Bristol at least) so thought I would comment here, not having read the whole thread. You hear more Spanish everywhere than any of these other foreign types IMO, but I wonder what they will think of the place soon if, after a pretty dismal summer, we have another of those nasty winters, though I understand it can get pretty cold up on the Mesa. After all, those Easterners find our winter climate a doddle by and large. I blame the EU!
