Same corner in Rochdale as the other one but from a different direction, known locally as ‘Calamity Corner’ Junction of Albert Royds Street/Kingsway and Milnrow Road.
I was born and brought up on the other side of the bridge behind the church

I am glad that you mentioned that , I spent an hour yesterday convinced that the other photo was taken in the fifties on Roch Valley Way but I couldn’t find a crossroads on Google Earth.
B.T.W. my cousin lived at 142 Rochdale Road in the seventies.

Wasn’t me, but he didn’t do a half arsed job, did he?
Not Tairo, is it?
I thought that you might know it Ian, It’s between Tiaro and Gunalda near Kanigan. You might remember that long northbound layby for trucks, just opposite that Satellite and Solar shop, next to the Opal shop. It happened at 3 a.m. and they have just opened one lane at midday. The driver managed to get out uninjured and luckily Clayton’s Towing have now got a place in Gympie.

The Wall of Memorial is to pay tribute to the truck drivers who died just doing their job. It is at Tarcutta, halfway down the busiest freight route in the country.
