Not sure mate but someone will know, Buzzer

Yep a MkI Superpoise, so named for the attractive look it gave, well according to Commer anyway! This one looks in better condition. Franky.
Thanks Frankie, I thought it was an N Series, the Superpoise having a rounded radiator grille.

That is quite a well known picture which I can’t find at present to confirm, but IIRC that is at Luton Arches, Chatham and the lorry belongs to Clubbs. Two M&D buses can be seen in the backgound.
Edit: Wrong that is High Street Rochester at Bath Hard Lane Bridge here:

I still can’t find the original picture with the description of what had gone wrong.

I wonder when that pic was taken. I don’t think the ESU series of re-registrations were available until until the mid/late 90’s.

Yes, that’ll be an age related re-reg. A modern recovery motor behind.

That’s what’s throwing me. Would the Scammell still have been in service as late as that, especially with a 4 in line trailer? The phone number on the recovery truck is for a company based in Ware as far as I can tell.
Ron Beckwith (originally from Eastwood, Essex was driving the Octopus. He was sitting waiting to turn on the A 13 near Grays. Another lorry misjudged and drove headlong into him. Ron had the quickness of mind to throw himself up and on to the bonnet, largely unscathed.
