Old northamptonshire companys

Someone was asking about this ford earlier, it was owned by Del Walters from Wellingborough, i used to pull trailers for D.pack & sons,Cranford. Del was also on there, used to have some good laughs, he brought my house when i moved to canada. He now works for Travis Perkins, W.boro.

Here’s another one after restoration, had the pic sent to me, taken at donnigton park.

Thanks for posting those Davella pics Steve, remember seeing those DAFs steaming through Kimbolton on a daily basis along with those from WASales, Chick Crossley and D.H Transport.

Cheers

No problem Mark, i have known Dave Mitchell since the 60’s when i was a kid, worked for him from 98 till 04 when i moved to Canada and still keep in touch with him.

re Arthur Spriggs I think they are mainly based in Tewksbury and you can sometimes see them parked in a yard/depot just past jct 9 M5 N on the left. They have a website so are still active although not so much in Northants.

Does anybody know what happened to Partricks F16, E plate i think, Pete Osbourne from Rotherham bought it and did it up, but i haven’t seen it for ages

Bit of a lengthy delay; but here is the Partrick F16 “before and after” photos.

I spoke to the driver who had this F16… he said it went like at train and sounded even better… till the engine went bang… they had a recon fitted this lasted about eight months then that went bang… turned out it was the strait throw exhaust … sounded good but bloody expensive to run

this truck is sat in a warehouse in bradford quality foods ave owned it for 7 years they ave taken the stright throw pipes off put a standerd volvo round silancer on with sides pipes changed all the leather inside to red and white leather cut all the stainless of bak of chasis its been un finishd full of dust and piegeon crap for 6 years

Please sir may I have it then I will wash it & paint it a nice colour it would be fitting as we were a Partrans subbie in Southampton
Cheers Rich

I remember H Brown on Semilong road in Northampton. During my first year at Swifts I worked nights and a mate of mine did the odd casual day for them. One morning Browns called and asked for him, I told them he was away, then asked if I could help (big mistake). I taked myself into doing a day for them the following monday starting at 06.00 I set out to Rhode in one of their Leylands, loaded for the old Standard factory in Coventry and delivered to about 5 plants on the site. I phoned him and he sent me to British Timken in Daventry to collect a crate that was a foot wider each side than the lorry which I then took to Timken in Duston.
11 hours work and he paid me 10 quid cash which in 1975 was a good days pay. However !!! later that night he called me to ask me to do a run to wales which I refused. “I’ll pay you 20 pounds for this one” he said.
Tempting as this was I feared I may get held up and not make work at Swifts the same night so declined.
Driving all day on a Browns log then all night on my Swifts log would make me a tad sleepy anyway

Timkens’ in Duston is just a housing development now, might be finished by now. The only reminder of that place is from what I’ve seen, two wrought iron gates beside the main road.

Couple of nice ones here, courtesy of Dave Mackie.

While I was at Partricks of Stanwick we had a “spread axle” trailer similar to the first pic of Patricks Kettering. It was terrible to reverse. If you were trying a tight reverse “jackknife” into a narrow entrance(especially on gravel) you had it lined up nicely then one or the other axles would let go and suddenly you missed the entrance and had to try again.
ps found any more pics of Partricks truckertrash■■?

Here some old pics of e m rogers trucks
