Great photos Ray, The AEC Monarch is a 1944/5 Model, Orrell & Brewster ran a one well into the 60s, It was a 1939 Model with a two stick transfer gearbox, The late Jimmy Miller drove it for a very long time hauling pet food stuff from Melton Mowbray, Happy long gone days in my book,
, Regards Larry.
Hiya,
If Glenny’s Leyland is only a Comet should it be pulling a
tandem axle, I thought they was 12 ton load motors as a
artic and 7 ton as a four wheeled rigid.Could it be a
Leyland Beaver.

IIRC “H” the Super Comet could run at 24 ton GVW with either a tandem axle ( 26/28 foot) and also at 24 ton gvw with the infamous 4 in line
The Super Comet had the two line air brakes so it could stop a bit quicker than the ordinary “Comet” which only had vacuum braking ( I think
And I believe that the 4 wheeler Comet flats could run at 14 ton gvw i.e. 10 ton payload ( and the rest !)
I hope you are keeping well mate ! Kind Regards Dennis.
Not truck related but just wanted to share this! My wife posted this photo of me and my Ford Zephyr on Facebook, It got over a thousand responses and opened up quite a debate on column change gearshift.

Crows had two Leyland Comets and they used to pull single axel Scammell trailers but the most powerful one was the Leyland Badger at the time, he only had one of these!

Well I had a Ford Z, Reg 2990 BB 1963 Model, I bought it from Blenhiem Street Motors in the Toon in 1967, It was a great bit of motor car, I covered a lot of road milage when off on holiday, Regards Larry.
I’m sure the Allisons Monarch was at the Steam Fair Chester-Le-St this weekend, I didn’t get a photo but took a couple, Crows Foden was there too. Nice Austin Champ among the military types and you could always get to where your going without any road rage problems with that Jeep! Franky.

Hi Larry, what a coincidence I also bought a dark and light blue Vauxhall Cresta / Velox from Blenium Street Motors in 1968 it had a Sheffield registration. When I find the photographs il post them.
Regards Ray.
