Hi Crowbar.

We had PUP101 which i am sure was registered 1954, so that wuld date it 1954
We had SUP 535 reg 1955
and TPT918 reg 1956 and TUP would follow TPT as the UP eg followed the PT reg in Durham.

So i suspect that Bedford S model was regisered in 1954

Regards
Carl

Johnsons of Chopwell also had PUP reg. Bedford S type. PUP 243 . Loaded with coal from Barmoor through Ryton to possibly Swalwell. Cheers Roy.

There is some of Ronnie Story, s tippers on somewhere. And of course there must be some of Gordons & Pulkies about, plus Old Albert Glendining, blue fleet…Regards Larry.

A friend of my Mam and Dad used to sometimes give me a ride in his truck when I was a kid. It was an S type Bedford for Johnsons of Chopwell…over 50 years ago! He was called Peter Paxton, I don’t know how long he worked there. We lived at Winlaton Mill. Wonder if thats why I became a lorry driver…we didn’t call them trucks back then. Happy days!
