Yes Dennis, the only way to drink “the dog” is from a half glass, preferably a schooner. My dear old dad would be doing a “Lazarus job” if he could see that bottle. Regards Kev.

Hello Greek,
Sorry to hear you have being unwell,Good luck with the operation.
Great photo of the lads and brings back a lot of memories of the Armstrong drivers. You must have won the tug of war with Jimmy being anchor man.
The many people i worked with at Blyth,Staff drivers and fitters and all the owner drivers and subbies who came in made it a pleasure to go to work.
It was a wonderful experience that money could never buy,There was never a dull moment,If it was possible to turn the clock back i would do it all again.
Aye Alec I used to do that drop at Dursely back of Micheal Wood services always on a Fri morning. The forklift driver was on job & finish so liked you there early. Anyway stopped at Somercotes Thurs night which was a regular haunt for us lot, went out for a few jars at the Cotes Park when that was shut, up in to Somercotes to the Crown where the landlady had something going with one of Wrighty of Tow law drivers & she wouldnt stop serving me bottles of Pils. So 3-30am barmaids (SHE ONLY GAVE ME A LIFT BACK TO THE WAGON) shoveing me up the stepps of F10 (hic). Next morning bloke out of factory I am parked on knocks on door DO YOU KNOW ITS HALF PAST NINE, Knocker hears me groan & ■■■■■■ himself walking back into his warehouse. No limiters at that time so 72mph. Hour & half somercotes to Dursely. Forkies usualy home by now but must have rung you then Armstrongs so hes pretty grumpy & tells me Armstrongs wants me to phone,so rings Davey Robson & hes giving me verbal, & Im giving him a load of ■■■■■■■■, gives me my pick up which is Bricks out of Walsall out onto M5, traffic stuck, manage to get to walsall by 4pm didnt think Id get loaded but did & just flopped back in me seat Knacked never had a drink or anything to eat that day.Back to Somercotes but curtains shut & telly on
I work with Davey again now out of Prudhoe with Elddis & told him the Story a few months ago & the load of balls I gave him over the phone. Don`t know how we got away with it them days God I had some late nights.

Missed back row Lionel Cogel Dixon’s/Golightly Group
I think the man standing just right of centre (with the open jacket) is Lionel Cogle. I can’t remember the company but had mostly tippers and were part of a bigger group from the Durham / Coxhoe area. I think they also owned Randolph bodybuilders at West Auckland.

Yes you are right I corrected my last post when I realised that I had missed him off, they had the depot on top of the hill after you leave Coxhoe southbound, think it was an old pit, Garmondsway seems to ring a bell. He married June out of the RHA office when it was in Oxford St N/c, think my dad was his best man.
