Old haulage companies

mandator mick:
just reading about Norseman Freight----Big Arthur who used to do continental for them was trunking for (GND)–Norberts out of Shell at Ellesmere Port, on nights, last time i saw him a few months ago. On days was a bloke called Ronnie Carroll, he used to run Morgans from Deeside, when they were doing a lot of work for Hotpoint washers.
I used to work for Gordon Plant, North Rode, and would load out of ICI pharmaceuticles at Macclesfield, and deliver in to AVC at Birkenhead, with stuff for export.

Hiya Mick you’ll know a few of my mates, Carlie Robinson… Stuart Chadwick …Johnny Balff…Phil Goosrey…Les Arnold…■■?Morgan…Brian Jones.
They all worked at Coopers (North Rode)After Gordon Plant sold up…I delivered to Plants yard one day(Harrisons S O T ) and Planty told me off for dripping oil on his yard,(only 4/5drips)
I said you show me a Gardner engine that dose’nt drip oil.He replied I have a full fleet of Gardner engine lorries. There was’nt a oil mark on all of his yard
which was pure white concrete with marked bays for each lorry.

John, just slipped out for a pint-----------sorry don’t remember those names. I worked with Bill Seaton, Brian Sutton, Oscar, John Shuff ‘, the Morris brothers, Harold Grocott, Charley?, Terry Booth, Ian?. I think the yard mans’ name was Cedric. Tommy Dorman (TENT ARSE), Phillip Plant and another bloke were in the office. Good stuff all for £1 a hour.

The Daf 2800 belonging to Finneys was still parked on the bend just off the east lancs a few weeks ago when i passed.

Sounds like judging by your description it was parked in their old yard.
regards dave.

From a distance it looked as if it was parked on the grass verge i could not see anything of the old yard, the question still remains why has it been parked there for so long?
